It like any other cold air intake, with the exception that it might slow air velocity a bit due to the angle the air approaches. And you may get snickers from others with the intercooler "look alike" but do what ever makes you happy man.

wierd...me and nick and another guy were talking about something like this yesterday (caus the guy has a honda and says hes getting one)...

i think me and nick came to the conclusion that it wont help very much, because its pretty much like an intercooler, but you dont have hot compressed air to cool down...the air will not be much cooler from having that, and yes, it looks like a ricers version of an "intercooler"...lol

that intake is so uber rice...

it will not yield any gains over any current CAI.. with the exception that it will be so filthy after just a few weeks of driving that you'll have to clean it every month !!! LOL

:) plus, everybody will laugh at you for having a rice scooper intake.

That intake is pure rice and actually hurts performance more then it helps.

Fake intercooler = ghey
angle of aproach and extra bends = poor performance.

Really....I would love to know how the air actually flows through that intake filter?
If it draws from the side only the first element would actually stop any dirt and crap from getting into your motor and if it draws upwards through the whole filter and then gets directed to the pipe then you have lost a serious amount of intake thrust which is valuable to performance

When i used to own my shop i used to always tell the customers
"The best way to look at any motor is to look at it as an air pump, the quicker you can get the air in and out of any motor the better performance you will have"

This is true still to this day and with that intake you have shown there i see HUGE amounts of restrictions that will hindre performance

But hey if all you want is ricer looks of an intercooler then i say stop trying to take shortcuts and actually put a REAL (www.real-engineering.com) one in there

Think about what would happen if 70% of your radiator was rendered useless.

As far as any benefit, think about the (lack of) cooling... you're sucking in atmospheric-temperature and pulling it through a heat exchanger that's cooled with... you guessed it... atmospheric temperature air.

Now, if you sprayed alcohol/water on the outside of the intercooler... ;)

actually tricked resurrected it. dave (2loud2k2xd) was asking about it and i pointed him to the thread, which, in turn, got people posting on it again

I think if you go back even further (archives) this was discussed there as well. Same thing that was said here... not as good of perfomance as a 'normal' CAI, and you have to deal with the 'rice factor'.

ahh i see,sorry kyle lol
