It was very cold, 39-45degrees, which helped to those who had CAIs, but the track itself was cold and I spun way too much.
Ultratibby was there, as well as two other Elantra owners, Keyan, and some other guy, forgot his name.
Ultra ran 16.3 with great 60' time(2.20) unbelievable, but there is something wrong with his top end because with those 60' time he should be in mid 15s. His trap speed was really low also, 83-85mph.
Two elantra owners had autos and both run 17.2 with almost no mods.
I got about 12 runs, with 6-7 of them 16.01 to 16.09, 3 runs with 15.80 to 15.89, one run with 15.96, and two others in high 16s because of either missing a gear or spinning like crazy.
I had Kumho ecstas on my front tires and to tell you the truth they suck ***!!! I could not good 60' at all, I either spun like crazy or... spun like crazy! I tried warming them up like I did with the rest of my tires and I did a miracle... I was able to spin my tires going 70mph in 4th gear! Rediculus!
And when I didnt warm them up I got better times, but at least .15 second worse than on my Dunlops.
Any comments are welcome :) anyone who wants to see my time slips IM me or send me a message, cuz I don't feel like uploading them.

these times were in your RD tiburon right ?
and awesome runs btw :)

Yeah, it's for the tiburon. There is no point of taking auto elantra to the track because I havent done anything new and I won't run any better than I did before, while you can experiment with many things when you have manual.
The times are not bad, but could have been better if I had normal tires. I ran 15.6 before with the same mods(CAI, and weight reduction).

there is a similarity with his performance to what I had when I was running with the cam sprocket retarded 12 degrees..
I had excellent traction due to loss of low end torque but I also had a terrible loss of top end power... I only managed to get 83 mph out of it no matter how hard I tried with a 2.3 0-60 foot time...
however once i set the cam sprocket to stock ( zero mark ) i went back and ran 87 mph ! .. thats 4 mph faster by simply setting the cam back to stock !
I might venture to say that its possible that he has done my "free cam sprocket mod" and actually lost power... Maybe you guys can get together and check the cam sprocket ... maybe try advancing it by 1 notch..... then go back to the track and run again...
also, OD.. what was your best mph of the night ?
and i dont know if you've mentioned it before... but did you weigh your car ? and if so.. what was the weight ?
.

I don't think he did anything with his timing, but not sure.
Never got a chance to weigh my car, don't know where to weigh it. But I know that I lost about 100lbs with the weight reduction mods, and I weigh only 180lbs.
My best trap speed was almost 88mph, 87.89 or something.

gotcha.
well, you should tell him to advance his cam sprocket by one notch..
that should put him back in the same ballpark as you and me :) lol

hey OD im the guy you forgot and me and keyan both did respectable for at elantras i had a lowest run time of 17.364 at 79.55 mphand later went on to beat keyan by 2 tenths of a second and3 tenths of a mile per hour with less mods
and my reaction time was a tenth slower

OD, its not worth it to try and warm up normal street tires. Your taking off miles that arent going to pay dividends. Street tires arent designed like slicks, where they get tactile with warmed.

What do you mean you lost the tranny? The hyundai tranny is very strong, with the exception of 5th gear. Motor mounts are a different story. And the stang cant drive.

it actually depends. I had 2 completely bald tires and when I warmed them up it helped alot for 60' times, also when I had my dunlops upfront(regular all seasons tires) I ran .15 of a second better when they were warmed up.

Unless the tires are very cold, like sitting for hours with out being driven, it wont matter. Driving the car to the track will make them warm enough that you wont make a difference spinning the tires.

well, I have to disagree with you. I got .15-.2 of a second better times when I warmed up my dunlops.
I'm a drag racing freak. The reason why I went this time is just to test my Kumho tires. And I pretty much go after each new mod I install.
