What do you guys think about this?
Will it work for welding mild steel like exhaust tubing and other metal things?

I would think you would want a MIG or even a TIG welder for Mild steel.

i dont know how to weld, but i know when we were working on Dweets IC piping, the kid who was over was using a MIG welder...they dont look that great, but hopefully they will hold

I guess we'll have to wait and see how it turns out :)
I have some neat projects planned ..
First, I will make a swappable muffler setup.. so I can switch between different mufflers easily.... :)
I'm gonna have
1. My current muffler, (Magnaflow straight through).
2. A flow master multi-chamber muffler..
3. A straight pipe with no muffler at all..
I'll use the welder to attach the hangers, and to weld the pipe to the mufflers... I'll also use it to weld the fittings with the donut in it for a proper seal :)
Then i'm going to the dyno and i'm gonna find out which one yields the most power and then keep that one :) LOL

MIG welding is better in lots of applications especially for filling holes and welding frames and supports and such. TIG is best when the welds are visible or for body panels since its warps less.

Stick welding also leave a lot of slag that you have to knock off and clean up.

well, that is what my rotozip & dewalt 4 inch angle grinder is for !
LOL
:)
I plan to take out my 1.8L header and go back and re-port it even more !!! then i'll stick-weld the outside of each pipe to the flange to keep it from separating ! YAY !!!!!!!! :)

Ford if you stick weld your header you will need to take it to get planed at a shop. I weld and bend steel for a living and your going to warp the plate by heating it up. Stick is not the way to get it done the inside is always mig welded and the outside is always tig welded I dont know if you have any experiance in welding but you also have a verry big chance of blowing through your pipe before you get enough heat for fusion in the plate steel.
If you are going to use the stick welder you will have to heat up the plate (wich will warp it ) to get proper fusion of the two metals.
Sorry I dont mean to sound like im taking you to school on this. I just wouldnt want to see you have to shell out the cash for a new header.
Later,
X
