I completed install of my "brushed aluminum" dash kit. In general I can rccommend these types of stick on kits. The 3M material is pretty remarkable. Once you heat it up it becomes like a soft rubber, after it cools it hardens and does stay on the dash plastic. My kit was from exotic wood dash. The fit was maybe 95% corect. I had to do surgery on a couple pieces.

Well, we need more pics than that. Oh and smaller pics wouldn't hurt.
Looks ok for a stick on kit. Keep up the good work.

I think it looks terrible.. I was thinking of getting it but now that I see it on your car, I'm going to spray paint mine. Maybe it's just a bad pic. Maybe you can post a High quality pic? The aluminum looks greenish... Sorry for being harsh, but I'm being honest

Need -
Its the picture. There is no green tones. It is a liquid silver. I had some trouble because I had to reduce the size of the pictures to fit the screen - this made them grainy.
See normal size below...

Take it from me. They look nice, but there is a certain thickness to the material - maybe 1/32 of an inch.
But if you want to paint...be my guest.

Need4speed,
I have a sliver of the dash material left over. If you want to see it as a sample, send me a private message. I'll send it to you.

Hey woody, thanks for the bigger pics, it actually does look better with in those pics. It seems to have a nice luster, am I correct. Thanks or the offer to send me a sample of the dash. That's really nice of you. Maybe you can take a up close pic of it for me instead. If just the peice so I can get a better idea of how it looks. I want to post pics of my car, how did you post the pics? thanks.

Need4speed,
Yes. It does have a luster to it - almost a liquid quality to it. As far as posting pictures, the tricky part is uploading your piscures to a web site. I happen to have a web site of my own, so I ftp my pics up there, then when you post you click the "insert image" button, and you have to give the url address to the picture.
I don't think I can do better pics than the last ones. I can still send the small sample if you want, but I know some vendors supply samples for free on request.
Good luck,

Thanks Spike. I think it does come down to money vs. time, and also the colors you want to do. I had a little bo bo and had to paint the 2 fake buttons below my trip/computer button. I got a spary can of "Aluminum" color at my local Checker, and the color is very close to the "brushed aluminum" dash kit. (I cut viny motorcycle race number material to size, then primed, and painted the small piece, and then stuck it over the 2 fake buttons - it doesn't have that liquid like quality of the dash kit, but color is near perfect match.)
For what its worth, my feelings were not hurt by Need4Spped's comment. I posted the pictures because I could not find many good pics of dash kits in the forum, so I thought it would help others. I guess I was secondarily interested in comments, but that was not my main goal. I had seen ads for these stick-on dash kits for a number of years, but was worried that they would not stick on the dash, or that they would be of cheezy material. After shelling out about $140, I'm happy with the results, and can reccomend these types of dash kits that use the 3M material.

It's nice to see Woody is a mature individual, unlike some other people. The reason for him posting was to get a response, either good or bad. Woody, glad to see you're not a child. As far as the other individual, it's people like you who create problems in forums, if you want to create problems I suggest going somewhere else. :headshake
Hey woody ,see you have a newer elantra, do you think they have these kits for my 2001?

I was contemplating buying the kit from exotic wood dash for a while before I just decided to paint it instead. Let us know how the long term holds up. My concern was yellowing with time due to the sun as I am unsure if it is UV protected.

Guys,
This is where I got the kit:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7933960912
It says for auto, my car is manual, but I could use every piece except for the center piece for the auto shift knob.
