Here we go again...

Run # 1 was fresh off the street after installing the new muffler ..
hp was 123.8 and 117.8 tq.. I almost crapped my pants when I saw the chart....

Run # 2 : This time, i actually reset the ecu... the difference was 2 whp and 4 lb gain in torque! ... hp: 128.0 & 121.8 Also, notice on the dyno sheet how the red Air / Fuel line is so perfectly FLAT ! Where is the cure for the 4500 rpm power hump?.... GONE !

I am still borderline to what I ran the last time I was on the dyno.... SUXORS and i was VERY dissapointed...

Run # 3: SURPRISE !!! I tried - 4 % on the fuel tuner and voila !
132.7 whp & 126.8 tq !! The air fuel line is also very linear, no hump at all !!!

that is 2.7 whp more than my best dyno 3 weeks ago & 6 ft/lb torque gain !!! !!!

Here is the DYNO !!!!!! :)

Here is the old dyno from Nov 11 as a reference.. this was done on the same dyno machine...

so that means that the little black box worked out well then....

yeah... I paid 250 for it like 10 months ago...

I currently have a new fuel tuner that has a built-in map sensor and all that but I dont plan to install it for a while..
At the moment... I'm still using the Split Second ARC1 fuel tuner..

just wait till the SC gets slapped on there!

I know.. I cant wait ! LOL

I just realized that i named the pics & the thread Nov 20... lol.. it should have been NOV 30 :)

oopsie.

ADDED:

I would also like to point out that even after resetting the ecu, i was unable to breach the 121 ft/lb torque value...

Only after using the fuel tuner and taking out -4 on the top end knob did it gain 5 ft.lb & 2 whp above the best dyno run of Nov 11 ... however it is 4 whp higher than todays # 2 run. :)

Coolness.

Also, I used my magical powers to retitle your thread.

So go back with the Magnaflow and subtract 4% !!!

when are you getting the super charger i want to see it

FordFasteRR

Hopefully i'll get it in 2 weeks... there is no way it will get to me within 3 days via GROUND shipping...

BUT... to keep this thread on topic...

I think the multi-chamber muffler is a better choice for me .. even NA.

:)

I cannot confirm how much of the power / torque gain was a result of the ecu reset + fuel tuning OR as a result of the muffler change ....

however, the two factors that changed were the ECU RESET & the muffler...

so either one of those two is reponsible for 5 wtq & 2 whp gain... lol

What did you think about the the difference in sound tone, quality, volume betweent the two mufflers

FordFasteRR

the dynomax is slightly lower than the magnaflow...

I like it better.. not as ricey ! :)

Wow! That's really good to know. Up until now, I've heard that the Magnaflow has the deepest tone. (When you say lower, that's what you mean right)

Is there a volume difference

What about tone - I've heard the magnaflow, it seems smooth.
Dynomax on larger displacement engines always sounds snarly - but I like it

i would say they are both about the same tone.. however the loud fart can part is what i'm saying is lower with the dynomax...

Ford,

while i appriciate all your dyno duties, from my reasearch there are FEW dynos that are accurate to within 1%...

1% of 100 horse power = 1 HP. so if you are dealing with a 1 or 2 horse power discrepancy, you are hitting the plus and minus vector of the dyno and then some... i would chalk it up to just mechanical chaotic randomization

just my random 2 cents

well, 2 hp is really insignificant, but 5 wtq is not that easy to discredit ! LOL

:)

update: I just wanted to post an observation...

from the air fuel ratio's that i have collected via the dyno sheets, it is apparent that the ecm leans the engine up to about 14 to 15:1 air fuel ratio below 4500 rpms.. even at WOT !!

when I reset the ecm on the last dyno, the fuel curve got richer by 2 points or so down to 12 - 13:1 before 4500 rpms... and that yielded a slight gain in power...

however, by further leaning out the mixture after 4500 rpms, i was able to see a few extra hp and 5 ft/lb of torque :)

not bad ford. So just a muffler does make a difference for us.

I remember you dynoed 137whp a year ago or so, what did you have on your car back then>? it wasn't the same for sure.

The 137 was uncorrected. I believe that applying the SAE correction to his numbers put him at around 128-130 sae whp. I would have to search back but I had figured out what it was. I posted what his results for hp and torque would have been if the sae correction was used back at the old forum I believe.

so it's pretty much the same now, or these numbers are not correct either?

So were you using any different timing?

FordFasteRR

the current dyno #'s are SAE corrected and it shows that on the scan :)

I am running stock cam timing and stock ignition timing.. however i am removing a little bit of fuel on top end using my SS ARC1 fuel tuner... just enough to bring it from 12.6 to 13.1 :)

that small amount of leaning out yields 5 wtq and 2.5 whp !

just compare the red line to the blue line on the current dyno sheet and you will see how good the fuel tuner works !
