Hi everyone I wanna buy a new muffler for my car, because the one i have is so cheap and badlooking and sound so bad that im getting tired of it, I mean it cost me around 20$ not bad for what i got, but im going to expend more money on my exhaust system and i need some advice... I have 400$ avaliable for the muffler, but i dont have any idea about brands or how much hp would i get... I was thinking about getting a 1 inlet 2 outlet tipe of muffler because i love the way that 2 exhaust tips looks behind a car, i dont know if thats good for power, probably it is because the flow is better... Anyway, i was looking and found 2 brands for now, borla and flowmasters and i found a borla turbo xl series in 233$ at cardomain.com, is this a good choise? what brand should i get? 1 inlet/2 outlet is good or not? and what should i do with the pipe diameter? gez this thread is long...... well iŽll stop now, thanx u all

im gettin a magnaflow on the 9th it costs 180 and its a duel tip style
LOL its great that your getting one and all but I don't think thats going to help him in the least. good luck with that by the way .

Ronnie has his exhaust like that and I beleave he said he lost some power and most guys here will tell you not to bother if your trying to go with performance because its not going to help.
Ya. So your better off going with something that has a twin tip. If you search for it, you can find the thread with pictures of my Magnaflow SS. GREAT muffler, its the only thing I have performance wise on the car and it made a noticible difference. Also, its not to loud, but not to quite! ;)

Ok guys, Superyo is just asking for some suggestions, no need to start anything, including flaming against anyone, inside this thread because he has questions, and it's "his" thread.
Superyo - I'm sure you can do alot with $400 - I'd look into Magnaflow, Vibrant, Remus, etc. As far as dual piping - that can get expensive if you want "real" ones. In some cases people just put a fake muffler on one side - which is really just for show. Or in some cases branch off the first pipe and bend out to create a second. Now if you are talking about dual tips on each muffler, I think it's just for show too. I don't know how much of a power gain you will get using a dual exhaust. Seems like alot of work cause I think you won't be able to branch off the first pipe and make any extra power gain - it might have to be a totally individual one - I'm sure people with more knowledge on the subject will be able to help you out a little more. Do some research though. Let's see what you come up with!! :)

What do you mean real ones? I wanted to buy a borla turbo xl, the biggest of the series...
Let me explain what i want so you can say if thats good or not... I dont have any experience in exhaust things... i mean... I dont know anything about that, i just know that somehow you can get some ponnies upgrading it...
Here we go...
I want to put a header(already have one but going to upgrade to a 4-2-1) of 2" diameter that will be connected to a 3" diameter piping of around 10" large and then it comes the muffler from witch comes out 2 pipes of 2 1/4" one for each side of the rear bumper
This will hurt my performance? why? and thanx for your advices

If you're interested in getting a split exhaust make sure they do it right. After many times going back to Midas to get it looked at they finally fixed it to my satisfaction. I have 2.25 pipe up to the axle and it now splits into dual 1.5" pipes. Sorry I don't have pics. The low end power is much better now and I do feel a power gain both high and low. Midas did forget to clip the O2 sensor harness back onto the car so it was dangling and a wire snapped, so the dealer said it would cost $250 to repair it (BS) and it wouldn't be under warranty because it was tampered with. But Midas is taking care of me. But that's really besides the point. I would be interested in trying 1.75" pipes after the split, but I don't know how that would affect the low end. I spent a total of about $400 for my setup.
If you're really concerned about looks, I say go for it, but if you want more performance out of it, I would say stick with what is proven to work.

Ok... then with your setup(very nice btw) you did gain some power isnt it? how much? do you think that the only gain is in look? i mean i want my car to look awesome but i want to smoke those cars that can run like mine now... Maybe if you guys look a picture of the muffler that i wanna get you can advise me on a better way, in borla`s web thay said that this can handle up to 450 hp... and if you not agree with the dual kind of exhaust what would u suggest?

I have a custom 2.5 cat back set up with a magnaflow muffler. BUT if I have your budget I would get REMUS mufflers. They have a consistent deep aggressive tone. Unlike the other brands, their tones vary depending on the temperature (muffler temp. and environment temp.) They cost more but you get the perfomance, the look your seeking and quality. Good luck!

I dont understand... Its good for a muffler to change its tone depending on temperature? why?

dude do not go 3 inch piping that will kill your exhaust if your doing a 2 inch collector on the header i would go any bigger then 2.25 i would actually stick to 2

Yeah Im starting to doubt about the pipe size... i planed that way because the inlet of the muffler is 3" wide and the outlets are 2 1/4" but probably ill stay with 2" or maybe 2 1/4" and two 1 3/4"... i dont know....
