Car's been totaled. What do you guys want me to take out of it?

What a wonderful day I've having. Woke up to a call letting me know the insurance company just labeled it a "total loss".


Yup, it's totaled.


So, I'm going to be disassembling it over the next couple of days to sell the parts online here, or on ebay.
Here's a list of things I'm already taking off:

APC 9.3mm Spark Plug Wires
Cold Air Intake
Front Strut Bar
Rear Strut Bar
Stock Wheels & Hubcaps
Angel Eyes
GLS door panels (part that would hold a tweeter on a GT)
Reverse gauges
2 Wedge Martix LED Bulbs
Gauge Cluster
2 9" Optix Red Neons
2 10" Streetgloow neons
Winshield Wiper LEDs (Blue, don't match perfect)
3 Red Paddle switches (they glow)
Drilled-slots-for-left-side-of-dash-next-to-the-dimmer-switch (where the paddle switches go)
Korean Card holder
Tiburon Pedal Set


What else should I take out?

(disclaimer: This is not a topic to "call dibs" on parts, nor make offers. That will come later. This is for getting anything and everything out of my car before they throw it out.)

That's what I'm thinking. They've assessed it. Usually you have to rip everything off BEFORE they see it. But good luck if you do get to take it all.

talk to your insur adjuster, if you still have the stock parts to replace the aftermarket stuff they should let you have the parts, after all you did pay for them, and they are not covered by your insur. When my dad wrecked his truck we got the radio and toolbox out of the cab and the cap off the back after they totaled it.

The body shop says I have to come by and remove all of my personal belonging from the car -- Well the car was insured as a STOCK GLS...

The reverse gauges, cold air intake, strut bars, hell even the spoiler (even tho it's destroyed) is all my personal property. Legally I can take it off the car right now.

It's things like the door panels and the stock steelies i'm worried about.

The repair would have cost $4985.
That's 95% of the car's worth.

I went to my car today, and the mechanic there said The car has to be in full when it goes to the salvage yard, so I only got to pull off the Tiburon Pedal Set.

Because you can't take off necessary parts like the CAI, strut bars, LED's, etc. The tib pedals go over top of the stock pedals so you can take those off. Am i right keyan?

Do you owe anything on the car or was it paid off?

If it was paid off, then you should be getting a check for the insurance co., make sure you let them know the value of the 'extras' you put into the car- they should concider it (you'll never get full value, but it all helps). You may have to show receipts etc. If you owe, it might mean you can pay off the car and have $$ left over.

Also, body shop/garage workers are famous for being crooked, $50 should make the guy look the other way for an hour or two while you strip out some of the aftermarket pieces....$100 and he'll probably help you!!

One last thing, you need to change your saying....your car don't go vrroom vrroom no more!!?!

That the value of the car was priced as a stock gls. And if I want to take my parts off I'm gonna need to put the stock back on. All before this thing gets towed away some time next week.

So,

2 wedge martix leds,
tiburon pedal set (auto),
4 red neons,
2 blue winshield wiper leds,
3 padal switches...

And that's it. That's all I get to take off.

I asked her about my angel eyes because they're built into my headlight, and she said she'll talk to her boss about those, but it would decrease the amount of money I get back to pay off the loan, so I'm kind of debating over whether to take them off or not.
