I have noticed a lot of threads being locked lately...I undertand the "Administrators/Mods Discretion" etc...but there have been more threads locked in the last 3 or 4 months then there were in the previous 2 years that the site has been around.

I mean what gives...the latest one is a simple thread about what items people would like Kspec to carry  ? What gives? I mean comon this is a bit rediculous.

Now I don't know how other people feel, but I feel like why start a thread about something maybe OT or even XD related if it may get locked anyways...there seems to be no rhyme or reason to why things are getting locked. I know I just visit now adays less than I used to because this is feeling a lot less like the open community that it was a year or two ago...and I will fathom a guess that others feel the same way.

Ahh well I guess thats the end of my Rant...thanks

the only threads that i have really seen being locked are when "we" go overboard with some of the females on the board...and vise versa to be PC.

i think that super and the other admins have been doing a fantastic job...i have dont have any beef

especially the KSpec thread.... I was about to post there when I noticed it was closed. What better way to see if there is enough demand for items then for us to have threads like this...

I'm sure these companies will be more willing to import items if we can go to them saying that we have X people interested in this item....

maybe we need a new section for Items we'd like to see made/imported... just for this purpose...

the reason for that is pretty much the thread will fill up with stuff....that if you just email them or call them...they will tell you yes or no.

its not that hard to shoot an email their way.....

not to mention all the post whoring that will start going on

I simply locked that post because it was in the wrong section and because kSpec (joonie) very rarely checks the site. Like I mentioned in the post, why not email kSpec (or ask on their Q&A boards/forum) about product availability. I know that David checks his email and his own site a lot more than he checks here.

I suppose I can unlock it and move it here. I don't want to cause any unrest.

Sorry if I sounded like I was being ungrateful or trying to cause unrest because I really Am not.

I just feel that unless a thread is way out of control ie personal attacks and such...they should just be left to run their course, the Kspec thread let me see parts that I never knew existed for an XD and then other people can show other things and hopefully we can see them get imported...maybe the title should have been more along the lines of "Things we should Get for the XD" or whatnot.

Sorry if I may have stirred up some unrest I wasn't trying to...It has just been in my mind lately that a higher number of threads have been locked lately, maybe the number isn't any higher and I am just notcing more of them...I dunno

Now, THIS (http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?p=50178#post50178) is a perfect example of the type of thread that should not only be locked/closed, but possibly deleted. It has absolutely no point, no value to anyone, and makes the people who visit this site regularly look bad.

Not every post on this site has to be about Elantras... or cars even..... but I think it's rediculous to have entire threads on this site about how drunk you are... get a life....

especially when on-topic threads are being locked.... threads like this should be restricted....

---EDIT---

I want to make sure people know i'm not talking about his thread.... but the Drunk Post **Work Warning** (http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65) thread...

Well it seems I started it, i get deleted post and all, But whatever. if they want to lock threads is fine. I dont see Mods getting out of their way trying to get things for the XD's

FIY: If anyone ever finds a post offensive or believes it should be monitored or looked into by a moderator, there is a box on the screen (above each post on the upper right side of the screen) it looks like a triangle with a verticle line in the middle. It says "Report Bad Post" when you hover the mouse over it. If you click this, it will send an email to the administrators/moderator(s) so that it may be looked into.

Usually we do let things slide a bit, but when we get complaints about a thread and it has either gone off-topic or is getting a little too risque then we lock it. If a thread has been locked then chances are it has been reported to one of the mods here. There are no hard feelings (at least on our side) and we are not "gunning" for anyone, we are just trying to make this a pleasant site for everyone and not just a select few.

Rail on me all you want if it exists and I just can't find it, but there really needs to be some rules regarding what can be posted and what can't. Without forum rules, it gets left up to individual moderator discretion, and that's just a recipe for trouble. Although I do agree that the drunk post should be locked - not everyone here is 18/21, depending how you wanna look at it. Anyway, even if your thread does get locked (like one I was in), just move it to the chat room or AIM or something. It worked for me.
