Does anyone know the model # of the Kenwood they stick in the 04's ?
I'm trying to find out if the unit has any pre-outs in the back.

its a kdc mpv-622H...same as kenwoods mpv 622 (the H is the Hyundai designated model with the black faceplate and the Hyundai logo on the front instead of the Sirius Logo).
I believe it has front and rear pre-outs.....its a standard mid-level kenwood.

yeah, it has a preout in the back. It's a preout for a subwoofer (continous load? I think. maybe used the wrong term), if you still have the user manual, check it out, it explains in there.

it has the RCA non-fading pre-outs for a sub, BUT if you also want F/R fading preouts for amping the speakers, you have to buy a kenwood adapter to plug into the 13-pin port on the back.
