View Full Version : Ever feel like you're the smartest person on Earth?

Not that I am, but the incompetance around me makes me feel as though I was blessed with some extreme brain power that was deprived from all my co-workers.
1st, the Troll. A field engineer who shares a cubicle wall with me. Thankfully she is in the field 80% of the time. She's about 35 years old, 4'9" tall, and maybe about 'a lot' of pounds overweight. The annoying thing is everytime she enters the office, she begins eating something. I hear chomping over the cubicle wall nonstop! Then she calls her kids about 15 times in the 2 hrs she's actually in the office.. arrgg!
2nd, the anti-productive engineering coordinator. His office is right behind my cube. He works on SOOOOO many projects at once, and tries to be SOOOO overly-intricate in detail, that nothing gets done... it's a huge work bottleneck.
3rd, (and currently my biggest frusteration) the finance director. Simply put, he wants to know why he cannot continue to store all the backup files on the server, taking up 98% of server resources and leaving less than 1G of free space for the rest of the entire corporation to share. He suggests we buy more space (although we did that 3 months ago, and he used it all). Oh yea, he's a former business partner of someone who was indicted on money laundering and arson charges a few years back... wonderful.
4th, my bosses secretary. Ok, if you are the bosses secretary, that does not make you the boss of everyone he's in charge of. Please mind your own business and let me do my job without your overly-simplified suggestions on how to accomplish something.
5th, the head of the building department. If it is necessary to use speakerphone, close you office door. And it also is not necessary to have it as loud as it goes so you can yell at it from outside your office!@
There's more... I'll be adding later.
ahhhh that was very well put together...and some sophisticated terminology...when i flame...it's all jumping over places....yours was very professional...

Maybe you should quit.... and take with you a little going away present. :D Sorry, the movie Office Space had a big impact on me.
Oh yes, I also commend you on the professional rant. Maybe you should tell them how you really feel???

nah... I get over it. Normally they don't get to me, just a combination of them being exceptionally stupid all at once was enough to make me complain to an internet audience. haha, thanks for the 'professionalism' compliment on my flame.

Ah yes, I'm glad you also realize that none of my suggestions are rational thoughts. But seriously, sounds like your opinion should hold more weight around there... for one, you should be able to talk some sense into the financial director. Kinda stinks when you're stuck working with unreasonable people.

I know what your talking about. To put it straight, a lot of the people around here don't know how to use the computer. Just basic functions like inserting pictures or files into a document....simple stuff. Mainly I get these questions from my boss, that is the sad thing.

I'm not going to start with dumby dumb dumb.......and then all the stuff with fugly way back. You know what they say about stupid people, you cannot beat them - because they will overwhelm you with their experience and their numbers.

Your right. I just get frustrated b/c people think that I am this computer tech and I am not, I am as dumb as the next person when it comes to computers. So while I can insert pictures in the document don't call to have me fix your printer. Hell, I have problems w/my own printer.

HAHAHA. I know that feeling.
I mean, geez, just because I know how to turn on the computer makes me no expert.
Take for example my boss calls me in one day to look at his computer. Odly enough what you type on the keyboard is not what appeared on the screen. Perplexing, you say. Well as it turns out he had spilled coffee onto his keyboard and forgot to tell me that before I spent 20 minutes making out like I knew what I was doing..."oh, but i wiped the coffee off the keys..."

Sounds like it's time for a little (quote)"server crash" (unquote) where you are unable to recover the finance guys "backups" that you already have backed up to tape or CD. We do that kinda stuff all the time. Then when they get REALLY pissed, and come in with the boss, we say "Oh, we forgot, we backed up your stuff to tape last week, here ya go." Then we inform them if they need something off the tape, let us know 24 hrs in advance.
HAHAHAHA!!!!

I feel like the smartest person on earth every time I have to call Dell tech support because some "Genius" didn't diagnose the problem right the first time, or ordered the wrong part, etc.....
Then, I usually end up with the priviledge of talking to some moron who was hired yesterday and has never seen the inside of a computer before.... "NO, I need a HARD DRIVE, not a CPU!!!!!!!!"
Sometimes I want to reach through the phone and beat their head up aganst the wall....

I don't have a major problem with stupid people at my job, just LAZY people. Now, I would say that I can be quite the lazy one at times, but it annoys me when you go to do something and find random **** laying around that people were too lazy to put away themselves, so before you can do what you have to do you have to clean up after lazy people you work with.
Oh and you know what really pisses me off? When you go to the bathroom and wash your hands, and you go to grab a paper towel to dry them and the only thing hanging there is that damn cardboard tube. Meanwhile, right behind you, is a whole huge box of papertowels that someone was just too lazy to replace. Or they just put the new roll on top of the leftover cardboard tube from the last empty roll instead of taking the 2 seconds to just throw the old one out and put the new one on. Same goes for toilet paper. Ok. Thank you for letting me rant. I'm done now. lol
