Alright... so I'm looking to get a CAI... I know that the 94-97 intakes work but since that sticky was made there seem to be a quite a few on ebay that are supposedly for our cars.
I'm wondering if anyone has ever installed any of these specific intakes and how fitment/build quality was:

First off, what year is your car? Does it have a MAF or MAP sensor?
First choice: I wouldn't choose this as this air filter doesn't go into the fender well, instead it sits more towards the front of the car(unless this is what you want, I wanted mine to go in the fender well)...
Second choice: Same with the first choice, only this one isn't a full CAI (according to the picture) looks like it starts after the elbo, I wouldn't go that rought I would get the full one...
Third Choice: This one doesn't seem like it would rought it into the fenderwell very good, I don't know, the shape of this CAI looks different than most of the ones I have seen...
Forth Choice: This one has the same problem that choice 1 and 2, and this one has 2 nipples for some reason. One is for the PCV system, the other one I don't think should be there...
Fifth Choice: Same as choice number 2...
It seems that the ones you picked were ones that do direct it to the front of the car, me personally would pick the ones that go into the fender well.
I got the Accord 94-97 4cyl Bomz cold air intake, here is the link that has pictures in it: http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3300 I have been very pleased with it, good quality, and sounds awsome. I tried looking on ebay and I only saw the 6 cyl versions at the moment, I don't know, maybe some more will show up soon. I would get one that is in the shape of this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38634&item=7940469810&rd=1 I am not necissarily saying to get this one, but try and get one in this shape. I actually was originally planning on ordering this one, but was curious what the diameter was first, ended up being 2 1/4 inches which is too small in my opinion. I personally would go with 2 3/4 if you can fine one, and it should be the same size as your throttle body so everything matches up real nice. Hope this helps :D

faraco, did the one you get fit pretty well w/o too much hacking & slashing? I'ts a one piece but if it fits well out of the box I could just go with it.

Mahonroy, I have an 01 Elantra GLS... forgot to post that upfront!! :poke:
As far as the pros and cons of the CAIs I linked to... I didn't really analyze them too much because I've not installed a CAI before. I basically just want a decent CAI that will install w/o too much fuss. If the design/routing of one over the other has a distinct advantage I'd definitely want to get more bang fot the buck... I just chose those particular links because they were supposed to be for an 01 Elantra. I know I don't want an SRI and I guess I just assumed that most of these CAIs would have pretty similar results as long as they were long enough to be more than an SRI.
Basically I'd be happy with any CAI that gives good results w/o too much modification for a decent price... I did read the thread earlier about your CAI and I mainly just wanted to avoid that "all day w/ trips to the shop" installation.

The ones that say they are for 97 to 01 elantras like in the first link are wrong. They are for up to 00, the 01 and up are different. From what I've seen posted here, these will NOT fit XD's.... if you want a cheap CAI you want one for an accord...

Hey, I see you have a 01 GLS. I am not sure if you have the MAF but if you do I have an Injen CAI (blue) for $150.00. I have the MAP so I am going to get a new one once I can sell this on. It is a good deal 160.00 including shipping.

This intake fit perfect, I didnt have to cut, bend, pry, hack, saw anything to get this to fit, except to remove all the stock intake parts. The intake goes all the way down into the drivers front wheel well right behind the fog light.

thanks for everyones 2cents... Think I'll go w/ the one Faraco pointed out. Sounds like it's an easy fit and the filter ends up where it's supposed to. Can't ask for much more than that!
