One other thing I was to post about meets. You learn so much from being with other XDers (even the neat stuff Igor had on his car). To see the mods, to hear the mods, to see what the mods do & how to do them. Reading a DIY is one thing but to actually see how it was done or have it explain in person helps alot. I'm pretty mechanically inclined but I have not done that many mods. Partially because of lack of time or it did not quite make sense. I got even more ideas on things I had not planned. :abovelol: If there is a meet in your area I say do you best to just showup at any part. We talking over drinks at night, we had designated drivers, car stories traveling stories. Hey Carbonman your name came up several times :) & we heard how much fun your. I could too a trip to Canada to make a meet your at, It would a a great road trip with the people I met here. I just need a moths or so notice.
OP & Rob put alot into this, we had a bunch of little things fall thru at the end , again let someone know :phone: we could have picked up the slack it was not a problem, I realize sometimes you life feels like it is in the toilet, but it is a great pick me up to go to an XD meet. but more important SHOW UP, you will have a good time.
I don't think there was anyone who did not have a good time.

I must agree that having meets are one of the best things you can do for you and your car. Ideas abound, actually seeing how something is done is very helpful, learning from hands on experience is always good. I haven't had a local meet since May and miss them, but I'm very busy most weekends and I can't organize one and not show up myself! Being at shows help alot too though. Even passers by that have the same car can see what's being done to it, and ask questions that help them for modding their car too.

I had so much fun meeting all you guys! Sorry I had to leave so early but had to get home to the wife and child. I felt so much better about the work I have done to my car after meeting everybody, it made me realize that I'm not alone in the world (That is hot rodding an XD) Made me wish more of you lived closer to me so we could do a weekly get together or something like that. I dunno about Jersey though, I have heard some horror stories about that place (cops, bad roads, traffic, tolls, etc.) But we'll see. After this meet I don't want to miss the next one for anything!

I just got back from vacation. I was very happy with how everything went. I think everyone who went to the track had a great time there and we did get alot of runs in. (My best was 16.8 but that's because it was my first time and my clutch is now completely gone.:) I was slipping out at 5k RPM's) After the track we all went out for a nice dinner and a couple people stayed out for drinks. I would really like to thank Super for driving us back to the hotel that night. You're a lifesaver man. Sat was a good day for the BBQ and everyone seemed to have a good time. Bowling was fun after the BBQ to. We never went to Six Flags (and no I'm not mad about it OP :) ) I figured we wouldn't with everything that we had done in the first to days. We were pretty beat on Sunday morning. So we drove 8 hours to the Cape (Cape cod) instead. Let me know if you put a meet together in Jersey because I would be in.
Man I look like **** in that pic of us in front of the cars.

Hahahahaha... yeah that was fun. I just wish i had more time on saturday and some dry twisty roads to take people on some test drives. Oh well, with the site as old as it is, i hoped more people would have shown up, so kudos to the guys that did.
Dude, Sunday morning sucked. As soon as I started driving, every bump in the road just served to produce more and more of that watery pre-vomit in the back of my throat. Got to I-97, but pulled into a gas station for water, excedrin, and tums. Sat in the car for like 20 minutes, doing the "stay and puke, or see if I can drive?" inner-monologue, then finally just gave up and started poking my uvula with my finger. Ended up sleeping in the car for 2.5 hours afterwards.
I keep forgetting that I'm more prone to nausea due to my lack of a gall bladder. Eight hours of drinking probably doesn't help either.
Now that my hangover has partially dissipated, I can do my review of the meet (Saturday, that is):
Well, got there around 1:03 (late, of course), and I was a little giddy, because it's rare to ever see Elantras with anything aftermarket done to them, let alone several of them. We headed off, caravan-style, to the park, and at the second light, I realized that I didn't have enough stopping room to brake without rear-ending Keyan, so I swerved off into the turning lane, and Bob almost hit him for me. As will happen, Bob, who was bringing up the rear, got caught at a light. He should've run the red like I did. So, I started trolling along, waiting for him to catch up, but as I did that, I lost the rest of the pack. So we're on the phone with each other, freaking out about the other drivers, the traffic control devices, and the fact that we have no clue where we are or where the rest of the pack is. A mile or two later, Bob is visible in my rearview, and without saying a word, we both know the best way to find the rest: 80 in a 35. Vroooooooom. We catch the pack just as they're about to turn off onto a different road, and we are contented. We took a kick-*** back road to the park, which would've been awesome had it been better weather. Unfortunately, there was this huge as puddle, and everyone following the leader got a nice bucket of filth on their clean rides.
We arrive at the park, then move our cars. Then walk. Then walk. Then move our cars. Then piss off locals with our parking. Then move more cars. There was great barbecue (OP style), demanding girlfriends, and some pretty interesting car alterations to behold before we took off through the oncoming rain.
Meeting up at the bowling alley, we did the standard "line 'em up" park job, then retired inside for beers and balls. I'm not really a fan of Budweiser, and I was left in the bathroom for two days afterwards having consumed it, but it was still fun. Seriously, good thing for beer, because the lanes just suuuucked. Regular bowlers couldn't bowl their style, so it pretty much evened the playing field. James held it down with the most consistent average, but 192 pwnz j00.
We depart the alley, and head back to the hotel for more beers, leftover burgers and dogs, and some shooting of the ****. Tor came along for a cameo, and then I ran off with him to Annapolis to get drunk in the company of sailors and discuss the retardation of religion with a brand new 21 year-old.
How was the movie?

Yo. I just got back from my trip to the beach after leaving the meet at 9 PM on Saturday night and driving 7-8 hours. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Everyone was cool, even the two non Elantra owners (Igor and Chris, Rob's friend). Igor's car is one of the nicest Maximas I've seen. I wish more people would have shown up, or not have said they were going to show up. Oh wells. We had good time the whole time I was up there and it sounds like they had a good time after I left.
Rob, no problem on driving for you drunks, someone had too, haha. At next years Northeast meet we need to have 20-25 cars though, that'll make it twice as fun. So, someone start planning now.

Wicked - what a great recount. That's one thing that bothers me about driving in packs though...leaders don't lead right and can't help to keep the pack together.

My b/f and I bought 2 sets of Cobra's to stay in contact while driving in packs. They were on EBay for cheap. They are pretty cool to use and have a decent range...but man, one guy I was trying to follow once in an area I didn't know, went through yellows whereas I couldn't run the red cause I was already behind enough, no signals, just gunned it everywhere...it's pretty hard to follow someone like that.

yea my dad let me borrow some walkie talkies for the trip up to pa. It's neat taht you can have different brands of walkie talkies and they all work the same.

....demanding girlfriends....
How was the movie?
She only does that infront of people to try and piss me off. Normally I'm the one knocking her around :nono: lol
Dude the movie was ****ing amazing! Me, rob, rob's friend (chris?), my girlfriend, OP & OP's girl all went to see AvP. It's definatly a go-see. And the fact that rob's friend was sitting next to me chugging a bud down during the middle of the movie sure hightened my "movie experience" experience.
Bill and (Steve?) went to see spidey2, I dunno how it was for them but I heard it's a good movie
