It is off Exit 29 B-A off the 695 beltway on the north side. The listing does not tell much about the hotel or the local area though, I have stopped by & there is alot of places in the area to hang out or eat.

Well, I was initially just gonna do the ones for the people coming from Houston('I drove half way across......'), but we should just get a overall meet shirt, that everyone can wear. Hmmm....... Something simple like the EXD shirt.
Maybe have the EXD logo in the same place as the site shirt, and on the back instead of the three cars lined up, we should have the date, the site, and something else? Maybe just shrink the current site shirt image down and have that near the back of the neck?

Ok, here is the deal with the shirts:
1)I will contact the members that are planning on coming on their size, IF they haven't already posted.
2)This weekend, I PLAN on going to 3 different local custom tshirt places to price them. There are around 20 people who are planning on coming, so I'm going to look at getting 30-40 shirts made. The extra will be for people who would like an extra, or if more people come.
3)The shirts will be FREE to members who come. I'm paying for this out of my pocket. If you would like an extra shirt, you will have to pay for that one though.
4)I've worked hard all weekend with my dad, so I haven't had a chance to do a design or anything. However, it is not a hard thing, so I would like to use Blue's basic design that he has for the site shirt, only shrinking down the back image, so I can include the meet date. I'm gonna PM him now, and ask his permission. Also, on the front, I would like to use SuperGLS' sig picture for the front 'pocket' area image. I'm gonna PM him right now as well.

So, please, if you plan on coming or now someone who is, please PM the shirt size, so it will cut down on the work I have to do. Thanks :cool:

TShirt Update:
Got word back from a local place that does really quality work. For 25 shirts with the colors and fonts I want the price will be $461.
IF I choose to go with a heat transfer images on the shirts it will be $286.
I'm not sure what the difference, looks wise is between printed and heat transfered shirts, but I plan on going to the shop this weekend and looking at samples of the two.
I'm thinking we will only need about 20 shirts. People who say they are going to come, might not(like is the case with ALL meets), so if we only need 20 shirts, the price will be obviously a little cheaper.
As for people who wish to chip in-I'm not asking for anyone to chip in, though-PM me if you would like to about it.
Also, the girl I knew still works at another shirt place, so I'm gonna try and get a hold of her, and see if she can hook me up.

I would think the difference that exists between those shirts is how they are affected when thrown in the wash. The graphics might totally come apart after a few washes for one way, but might not with the other way (heat transfer or whatever). I'd still like to get my med shirt and a large as well as I have someone coming with me for this meet.

Yeah, I thought that site was very nicely done, but you don't have to make it $100 a pop - but you can also sell raffle tickets or something to win some mods for a car. RD Tiburon is doing that...something like $2 a ticket to win headers, half the money goes to buying the header and the other half towards a worthy cause. You can also put in a section for helping out purchasing the shirts - I myself am a tad broke so I can't contribute much.

As far as the legality of the raffle, the problem lies in the fact that raffle winnings must be reported as income for tax purposes. The IRS isn't going to waste their time with a $100 raffle, and if anyone saw fit to report the raffle in this instance, I would volunteer to lodge my sneaker up their rectum.

I'm not thinking there is going to be a raffle. First we don't know how many people would enter and some XD owners our bring friends that don't own xd's. To much confusion with it. Believe me I like idea's and if you have a good one run it by me but anything that we need money (more than just a couple bucks) or a set number of people will probably not be planned. I don't want OP and I to get ahead of ourselves here and start making plans that will be hard to do or cost a lot to us or to you.

Now about the T-shirt thing. I'm not in charge of that. I personally will probably be strapped for cash at the end of this meet and I wouldn't be able to pay for a shirt but that planning is left in the hands of the person looking into it for you.

Well, that thing was a suggestion, glad you guys liked it and thought about it. A prize though would be a cool way to end it. A a meet in Oakville last year, people that showed up signed up and got a ticket. There were prizes given away at the end of the night for things as small as a Hyundai watch, (which I won - yay) free oil changes, detailing - that sort of thing - more like door prizes than anything else. It's a great way to entice people to show up if they think they'll get something at the end for showing up!

That's a good idea to. It's just that everything has a cost to it. I'm all for doing things like that but I just want to make sure people would want to pay to do it. I mean I can't afford to get my own oil changed right now let alone someone else's :)
I have liked a lot of the ideas that people has been throwing out there and OP and I are going to make a list of all suggestions and pick what we think people will be up for doing and paying for. I'm pretty sure that I speak for both him and me when I say between the BBQ and some other little things we might have going on :) we are probably going to be cut a little thin for money. We have already gotten people who have offered to help with some expenses like Blue and we appreciate that but if we get into doing stuff that we MUST collect money that gets a little harder to do. As co-runners of this meet OP and I will have to front the money for all prizes, gifts and events. That will get hard to do. But if you have a suggestion (regardless if it costs money) let us hear it. The more people we hear from the better this meet will be.

Also I'm thinking that we will only be taking suggestions till about late June early July. This will hopefully give us enough time to plan the days out well. I think the thing that went wrong with the NY meet was that there wasn't enough time to consider the possibilities of what was going to go on. People like to know what they are going to be doing and we want to let you know that ASAP.

Here is just a thought for everyone. Since we will probably have the better part of 25 people at this meet I suggest if you have anything you want to SELL OR TRADE bring it with you. I know I have a couple amps, subs and parts that would cost a lot to ship but nothing for someone to pick up. Just a thought for you people looking to buy something cheap or sell something you don't use anymore and make alittle money.

sat: BBQ in park, then some games, and whole bunch of other stuff, at night we will go to the movies, mall, bowling, poll, restaraunts, etc...

sun: just chilling, we havent decided exactly what to do on sunday, but we will come up with some good ideas :)

I think that driving to Six flags is a pretty good idea. That way people can leave when they want and there is no real need for planing on that. We will just set a time to meet at the hotel on Sunday morning, have some breakfast and head there. We will have to discuss all of this on the phone OP. There will be A LOT of planing that needs to be done. I'm thinking about even coming down with a friend on Thurday night to go to a Baltimore ball game and talking last minute things over with you.
By the way do you have a big freezer? Because I'm thinking we are going to need 50 hotdogs and 50 hamburger. Also we NEED TO be able to have at least TWO grills at this park to be able to cook. I don't know if there is a way to reserve them or if you and I are going to just get there early on Sat.

Ok, so, things are planned for friday. How early on friday is this planned to happen? If it's early early then I'm going to be spending thursday driving down there....which kind of works out..I guess, Having to get a room in the hotel for the night of the 12th, 13th, and 14th. Then saturday would be the park & night entertainment....then sunday would be Six Flags, with people being able to leave any time they want (i wouldn't go to six flags most likely...head straight home..)

How fancy are the shirts going to be? At stickersandmore.com (where I get stickers made for my punk band) they do single-color silkscreened shirts pretty cheap. 25 shirts with a single-color silkscreen job would be $175+ $15 setup $9 shipping, just about $200. If you're doing more than one color, I have no idea what to tell you, because as a crappy punk band, we just do white ink on black shirts, minimalistic and cheap :)

Anyhow, I've ordered a bunch of things from stickersandmore and they're always a pleasure to deal with. They're based out of indiana, if that means anything to anyone.

I might add that Elantra trunks seem to be designed specifically for carting around guitar amp speaker cabinets.

I won't be able to come down for the whole of three days, but I could meet up with you guys, Baltimore's about an hour and a half drive from me. The only thing I've done with my GLS is add a Euro Antenna and a card holder, but it'd be fun to see what everyone else has done with their cars :) It all depends on if I have a gig that weekend or not, basically. I always have rehearsals on Sundays, but we usually get shows on Fridays and Saturdays.

So I'm a big fat maybe/kinda.

Major Update on Shirts!
Got word back from my hook up girl. 20-25 shirts can be done for 10 bucks each. 100% cotton white shirts, and the graphics I am going to use(Thanks to Blue and Super :bowdown: ) I will be going to the shop this upcoming weekend and taking some pics of their work, so everyone can see the quality.
This is a hella better deal than what I was quoted at the other place, for 50/50 shirts.
I'm tired as hell right now, after the festival today. So.......I will begin PM'ing EVERY one who is on the list about shirt sizes late Sunday night and Monday morning.

Ok I just wanted to put alittle update in for everyone to know what the plans are for this meet.

Friday.

One of my friends and I are coming down on Thurday night to go to a Phillies game. We will be meeting up with OP on Friday around 1:30-2:30. We are going to the hotel from there to check in. People will have two options. One is to meet us at the hotel by 4:00 (we will leave our room number available at the front deck) then we will all go to the racetrack that night. (about 45 minutes from the hotel.) Or you can meet us at the track. (OP will give directions and the name of the track since he has been there.)
That will last until about 10 or so. Whenever they close. Then we will head back to the hotel and decide on a local place to go drink/eat hangout. Then back to the hotel.

Saturday.

OP and I will have to talk about it but I'm thinking that since there are 20-30 people coming for this part of the meet we don't want everyone showing up at the same time. (For the reason of food prep.) I figure show of between 12:30 and 1:45. That way people have a chance to introduce themselves to each other and get some food while doing it. This BBQ and meet will probably last a good portion of the day. OP and I have some friendly competitions that we think people will be interested in.
Ex.
Best car audio.
Best engine modification
Best interior
Best exterior
Best overall car
Something will be awarded for all of the catagories.
(Only one catagories winner per car. Except for Best overall car.)

Then from 4-5 on is yet to be decided on. (suggestions are welcome)

Sunday.

This is be a day to go to six flags which according to OP is pretty close. At which point people can leave from there whenever they choose to.
Or if we go out pretty hard Saturday night could be a day by the pool. That will be decided then.

I would also suggest that if you like to watch fast cars race then come to the track on Friday night. I went to the track up near albany new york and it was awesome. I saw Jay's car race along with Cobras, Corvettes, Trans Ams, Audi and STRICTLY race cars running in the high 9's low 10's. Not to mention the Snowmobiles running low 9's at over 130 MPH. I thought it would be ok and it turned out to be really cool. To bad the weather was cold. I think Friday night will be alot of fun.

Hey all I'm back. I don't know if eveyone noticed but I haven't had internet for about two weeks now. Things for the weekend are looking good so far. I still need to call OP to finalize some things and find out what we are going to do about a few little details. Hopefully he will have the day open on Friday so I can go with him to the park to check some things out before going to the track. Just to let everyone know I will be be asking everyone in about a month for DEFINATE answer on if they will be there are not to get a close number on people. Super, pick a good place close to 495 in NoVA (I suggest Tysons Corner) and have everyone coming from the south meet over there. Don't forget to exchange cell phone #s so that if some group gets lost, they can contact you. Walkie-talkies would be even better!

Only reason two way radios wouldn't work is that both parties need to have the radios in advance, Thats OK cell phone #s exchanged by PM should get the job done. Meeting right under the Tysons Corner Center sign sounds kind of foolproof doesn't it? OP if the park is as big as people are saying it is it's probably broke down into sections. So it might have the same address all together but check to see what entrance you go in. EX The northeast front entrance or something like that.

The hotel is about 4 miles from the park, on a major highway rte 695, & the park is up off 795. :) It is easy to get to, stop by say hi, we dont bite, :eek: well at least I don't & there should be a bunch of Elantras there. :D I live in the area & I'm not sure where the park is exactly but there are than many parks on 795 & there will but there decent directions shortly.

Hey remember this is the easy part we :multiples worked hard to get a decent location, organize what is going on etc... It is still a few weeks away & we'll have the info shortly... & it will get posted.. :tongue:

Ok since this topic has gotten pretty big. 9 pages so far. We have alot of people posting the questions for all the info on the park. I'm going to get in touch with OP (local support and co-event supervisor) and Vsolo (Has done the most with the hotel arrangements). Then we will do a long write up including Hotel info, meet locations with directions, agenda of Fri, Sat, Sun and any other important info. That post should get NO RESPONSES. It will just be an info post. Since I need to contact both of them to do the write up it will probably be a few days.

OP said that he might have 2-3 RD's coming up on sat. Hopefully. I'm not liking that people who were all for this meet are now not coming. So far there are around 10 who are coming and we have 13 people who haven't RSVPed yet. I would like to see at least 20 there. Come on people. Meet who you have been talking to, see some nice cars, maybe go to the track, have some food, maybe win a prize for having a nice car. What more can you ask for?

All I know is that I'm going to have fun no matter how many people come. I get to go to the track for the first time this year and race for the first time ever. I get to have a nice BBQ then go drinking afterwords and I get to go to six flags for the time in like 4 years:) I think even if we just have 15 people it will be alot of fun.

Earlier would be better at this point. I was thinking of going up at around noon or so but with the weather threatening in the afternoon now. It seems like a smart idea to head up there around ten or so, that way we get there with time to spare. Maybe even leave here around nine, I figure it'll take an hour an a half to get there, traffic permitting of course. yea get to my house as early as possible then we can head up there. Nope I dont have my car as of yet. the guy yesterday said he talks to the guys at the body shop everyday and told them that it needs to be done by this afternoon so that is what im hoping for. and hoping that my paycheck gets in the bank tomorrow since its not there now :( im gona go pick up the clear markers from pep boys this afternoon so i can at least get those installed maybe tomorrow and the grill if ilan is bringing it still.

Hey I had a good time :)

I have the stock intake & exhaust, My first race against Rob, I was off the line & winning for almost 600 feet, :) then his mods made the difference. Also it was his firs ttime at the tree so I had an advantage having raced before.

the next race he got rid of his dead weight (co driver, case of water, case of soda, base box) & beat me by even more. you can see a big difference after 4K, the stiock just done pull as hard & we have then number to show it, I don't have them with me right now.

It was a good time.. Heck so was the whole weekend. All of those who did not make it really missed out. It was really nice meeting everyone & putting a face to the screen names. I got a lot of good info for some of the mods I want to do, it is nice to see the other modded cars.

Rob & OP did a real good job setting this up & posting directions. OP was not around when we headed to the park & the directions were right on..
