all is good but where do you get the clear plastic piece with the right curve? are they using 4dr XD clear covers?

I can't tell if it's the XD/XD2 clear covers, or Tibby covers

That guy is good, I think I'd rather pay him to do it. Looks like he works in a butcher shop (red all over gloves). What with all the funny looking symbols? j/k

I also don't think it'd be wise to paint the concentric reflector rings black under the lens -- they help focus the light if you're using anything other than LED lights.
I haven't liked the LED brake lights I've tried in my car so far -- they don't have as wide an angle of visibility as the normal bulbs and aren't quite as bright, even straight on.

damn it!! sombody got to it before i did!! only thing is that iwould do it with the 04's so that they still have the reflector in them and the locals may stay away if you have the reflector....but other then that that is hot!!

If only I wasn't a perfectionist (and lazy) I would have this done with my taillights. Shaving/cutting the lenses is the hardest part, the rest isn't a big deal. This is good for some help though.

12-26-2004, 09:04 AM
nope...the totally clear ones...so the black paint that matches the car come thru!
only1db
12-26-2004, 05:13 PM
do them with the 04's!! so they still have the reflective lense in them!! and you can send them out along with my eye lids!!
only1db
12-26-2004, 07:06 PM
if you use the 04's the reflector is built right in and you dont have touch anything....as opposed the the 03's that have the reflector on the outside lenses....oh and it has the little thing so the turn signal still reflects

i would pay a little more if you use the 04's....they would look more like oem then using aftermarket reflectors

They do look good. Just too much work for me (I am also lazy). Scrolling through all of that made me tired.

the only thing about them being smoked is that they wont match the inside lights (the ones under the back up lights) i like them totally clear....i guess i will just have to do it myself....

making the clear lense could be done with just a regular piece of plexiglass and a heatgun right? tape off the colored lens that is on the tail and form the plexi around that like they do in the pics...or am I just stupid?

Im interested in any parts you want to make, if you have ideas on something you can/want to do, drop me a line. I am tired of the lack of parts out there for my 02XD, so im up for everything interior & exterior.

I don't want to sound mean, but there are plenty of parts for someone just starting to mod their Elantra, take a look at the Related Links section and even the Archive to find some good ideas. Good luck, and welcome to the site.

I am not really new to modding my elantra, I just want some stuff other than what is offered at the moment. There are a few things im going to do with what is out there now, I just like the ideas that Spike has, and would be willing to wait for some of his more major pieces.
