I would never buy any c/f pieces if they werent real carbon fiber. It defeats the whole purpose of havin carbon fiber and it doesnt ever look real anyway.

Also, the real C/F panels we are going to do are going to look 110% better :)
No, they would look 1000000000% better.

Painting Carbon Fiber Pattern
Everybody loves the look of carbon fiber, after all, carbon fiber says "custom" and "racing!" Achieving the carbon fiber look on your cars is not difficult at all to paint, but it does require planning and preparation. To achieve this affect, you will need to pick up a rubber woven kitchen drawer liner. These are available in a number of patterns, so make sure you pick out the one with the smallest, tightest pattern. Usually, you can buy the liner in rolls so you will have plenty to do multiple bodies. While you can paint the carbon fiber affect in just about any color, the combination of Parma Faspearl Black and Faspearl Charcoal work very well together and provide the translucent depth that real carbon fiber has.
Since it is very difficult to get the liner to form to complex curves, it is best to do this technique on relatively flat areas of the body. If you do need it to stick around gentle curves, you can use masking tape to hold the corners in place or you can spray the liner with artist tack adhesive. Once you pull the liner up, you wont notice the adhesive.
1. Cut out the size of liner that you need, which excess of about ½ inch bigger on each side.
2. Lay the liner in the body where you want the carbon fiber effect. Tape it in place if necessary being careful to place the tape on gently.
3. Fill your paint cup with Faspearl Charcoal and spray an even coat across the mask while turning the body gently so as not to disturb the mask.
4. Set the body to the side and let that coat dry for 30 to 60 minutes.
5. Don't attempt a second coat since it isn't necessary and you will usually disturb the mask, ruining the pattern.
6. Lift the mask off the body and you will see a checkerboard pattern.
7. Fill your paint cup with the Faspearl Black and spray a top coat.
8. Use your hairdryer to speed up the drying.
9. Apply two more even coats with the Faspearl Black and consider it done!
10.(I added this myself)-beat your self until you bleed because you just painted fake c/f
You do not necessarly need to use these colors. u can use similar colors in a spray paint can or however you are gonna paint it. hope this help's

Oh yeah, saw this thread yesterday so might as well comment:
I think those whole kits look pretty good and probably better than the average , but I'd prefer to paint it myself, DIY is for real men. :phone:

Another high quality pic from Spike, ha.
Looks the same as if someone painted it themselves to me.

Spike, if only you were here when my husband messed up his interior. He tried to fiberglass his dash and totally screwed it up. I would post pics but I am embarrassed.

Is it just me or are you guys banging on something that looks outstanding! Fake or not, I agree with the original post saying "nice interior" NO DOUBT!
BTW, I painted my own dash too. I have had many people in my car say: "Damn, You did that? And with a rattle can at that? That's amazing!" My interior gloss is just like pro (4 coats clear, smoother than fresh waxed legs on your girl), add several coats of professional wax and voila! Purrfection damn nit!
Total cost...$12 and attention to detail. Well planned is half the battle.
The person who did the original stuff here gets a big thumbs up in my book.
RICE? I think not!

I think I can speak for Spike and I, we are not banging painting your interior. We are banging painting your interior to look like carbon fiber instead of buying the real stuff. Although you don't lose much weight by going from stock to a c/f dash, its the symbolism that matters and you can tell the difference between real c/f and fake. Painting your dash or any other parts to look like c/f IS RICE!

:abovelol:
also, the whole deal with rattle can if you know the difference in real paint and can paint then you will be picky on what you want
I know I can tell just cause I have seen a dash done both ways
I just perfer a pro to paint it than in a garage somewhere
Um, red flag!, the difference is ZERO if you know what your doing. Air compressor (done it) or rattle CAN (done it) can look the same. Ask the 70 year old Meister who showed me how. That would be the man with over 50 years experience in this profession. And in a garage somewhere? No, in a dust free enviroment with patience enough to make it look awesome. Patience is the key, not whether you have a "shop" or not. Or whether you use a rattle can or spray gun. I would LOVE to see a DASH with over a 100 parts that needed painting. C'mon now....(PICS plz)
Btw, here's mine, it has double the gloss since this pic. It double reflects in the windshield it's so glossy:
