As soon as I bought my 04 Elantra, I took my Sony CD player out of my old car and put it in my Hyundai. The only problem is, it doesn't fit right!!! HELP! Right now its all put together, but it's sitting improperly above the little compartment (it kinda sticks out on the driver's side). When I went to Best Buy to buy the Wire Harness Adapter, I asked them if I needed anything else like a kit or something for it to fit...and they said I won't need one, it'll slip right in. It's a tight fit, so it's not going anywhere. And also I can't put the skinny black faceplate frame on there because of it...If anyone has any pointers, hit me up!

most of the time you need an aftermarket housing for the CD player. Correct me if I'm wrong but the couple times I've done a CD player install I bought a package that had a plastic rack/housing that the CD player sat in and it sometimes they stick out a little bit further than the OEM HU but at least it sticks out evenly from side to side.

That wasn't a problem when I installed my Pioneer. I just screwed the factory radio brackets right onto my HU. You can't tell it didn't come from the factory. Even the texture/coloring of the HU matched my dash.

yeah I know not all CD/Car combos require aftermarket brackets.

Since it's just sitting too far out on one side but not the other, can you see if theres anything back in the bay thats keeping it from sitting flush with the dash? Maybe some wiring or anything?

If there is any wiring that is between the cd player and the metal bar then it will cause the cd player to stick out, you need to ensure the wire hareness is above that bar and the wires fall behind it.

I originally had my JVC deck installed by Circuit City. They removed the 'shelf' and replaced it with a smaller shelf that held the CD Player mounts.

I would guess there's something in the way behind the deck, like everyone else said. Check the antenna lead - that's always in the way, as well as make sure there's no wires getting stuck between the headunit and rear support brace(metal bar). The wires should come up and over that bar before being plugged into the H/U. That will keep them from being pinched in the way.

Got any pictures of what you mean. I recently bought a Sony HU and it fit like a glove. Maybe you've still got the extra bracket stuck on it. I didn't use the little plastic frame so there's a tiny bit of a gap around the face of it, but you con't really tell.
