Im still angry and still feel ripped off but they fixed it. I complained to the store manager and he gave the roadshop guy $ to get a solder gun from sears. It took 3 weeks for them to get a solder gun, i feel bad for the people that got installs during that time :( . They were pissed because they had to do soo much reworking and soldering ALL the wires. They are going to look into replacing the grommet they cracked open to run the power wire. BUT! they said they arn't comfortable with drilling through the firewall so i'll do it my damn self. I just need to put my cap on, then replace my sub grills because they are fugly.
CLEAN AT LAST!

It took 3 weeks to put one amp in. Why was there so much soldering to do? Whats been done in that pic would take one person less then 2 hours. Believe me a would know. I would a wood/plexi false floor with 2 caps, 2 amps, 1 12v fan and a dis block in about 7 hours. Most of the time was put into the floor.

no need to drill a hole, cornbread. there's an unused grommet just waiting for a power cable. it's at the base of the a-pillar behind the driver's side mudflap. it enters the car inside the rocker panel and comes out behind the kick panel.

Well I am glad you had it fixed, but 3 weeks? Sounds like a bunch of retards are working there. I never had any problems w/Circuit city installation. Mind you that every time I went for different cars the same guy was working there & he knew what he was doing.

Well congrats on finally getting it in.

rdubois they had to solder all the wires that are under the seat and all the ones behind the headunit because EVERYTHING was done with electrical tape. I should have taken pics to show you guys.
Now I have to mount the capacitor, I was thinking of putting it on the back of the other seat.

look at my webpage there is a spot perfect for drilling the firewall in the pic on the third page you can see the red power cable going through the firewall

why drill a hole when there's already one there just waiting to be used???

same here. with almost everything i have done, even high end installations, i have learned something from them. if you stop learning in your craft, you get bored.

Its a power distribution block.

Its a power distribution block.

great !

I was hoping that it was that, because i've seen some people mount the amp fuse there, and thats not safe...

if you short the power cord anywhere in between the battery and the fuse, it will just catch fire and burn the car do the ground ! LOL

In all installs that I do I use a Fused Power distribution block there, but I also put a fuse or Circuit Breaker at the Battery. This way there is twice the protection...better safe than sorry.

^ yeah there is always a fuse not more then 18 inches from the battery...i thought that was a given....those fuses are there just for back up...

heh, my primary fuse is never more than 6" away from the battery terminal. i don't take any chances. plus i put fuses in front of every device i add to the primary power wire (if they don't already come with fuse protection.
