didn't you have a header before? What do you have down stream? And yeah it is loud, especially without a resonator.

It seems like everyone have the same complaints about this header. I want to try out the HotShot headers which are now available for our car, but they want $500 for just a header. They make quality products for Nissans though so I would assume for $500 that would be the case for the Elantra header also. I hope they will lower their price somewhat.
every header is going to be loud, no matter who makes it..
for two reasons.
1. Its a bigger diameter pipe with no catalytic converter slowing the air down and restricing the flow
2. there is no heat sheild to deflect the sound.. You wouldn't think it would make such a difference, but i would bet money you see a 2-3 db drop with a heatshield of some kind
shawn :)

wrapping the headers with heat wrap will also bring down the noise.....and your going to get a cel no matter what....the computer is reading no difference between the two cats....because they are not there and throwing the cell.

no **** ilan, catalytic convertors do quite a bit to dampen engine noise. header wrap will help some, I would think that mostly it will help with the buzzing noise that people get. bolt a cat up after your downpipe and relocate your o2 sensor. looks alot better than the SSautochrome unit as well. as far as good headers go, $500 is reasonable, so long as you're paying for a good piece. and wow, if you have the stock resonator, that means you're running the stock exhaust and its still that loud? give us the details on your setup.

Cats are gone I paid only $245 I got my supertrapp down to 6 discs on take off is loud but on open throtle is bogs the sound because of the trapp
I got no buzzing sound
I know here in Nevada every year you have to get a smog check to register your car and if the car has a check engine light on, it automatically FAILS :eek2:
How do you guys get around this where you live?????

Yeah I am also curious about the gains. Also if you reset your ECU by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a while, then hooking it back up and let it idle for 10 minuets, will this make the CEL go away for another 100 miles?

Wait, so the EF header bolts up to the stock exhaust?

Ummm Yeah that's kind of the point of a header that's actually designed for our car instead of a Tib.

Cracked?!? Damn, the car is pratically still new  I'll check mine out this weekend and see how mine looks. How is the car running now with the header?

yup, or you can just pull the ECU fuse out of the fuse box in engine bay!

In California we don't have to smog our cars every year. If it's a brand new car you usually wait 3-4 years before you have to smog it. As far as the smogging goes, you either change everything back to stock or find a mechanic who can do a little fibbing for a little extra $$$.

C'mon now guys, did no one pay attention to the Greek tragedy that was my exhaust? Hell I posted about twenty times on the old forum about how friggin obnoxious that header is. The EF is designed for our cars AS A RACE SYSTEM ONLY they say so on the website. What they don't say for obvious reasons is that you can drown out a jet taking off at 3500 RPM. Good luck Ilan if you go to the archiver and check my previous posts you'll see what I had to do to fix that mother.
