she may or may not, but if she's going to show off at a public event then she should realize that any anonymity is shot to hell. it would be unreasonable to not expect someone to snap photos and post them, unless there was some prior agreement or something.

Hey, don't worry about it too much. If you go to a car meet and people are taking pics, then you have to know the pics are gonna be posted. I can't see any reasonable person getting mad for posting pics of their car. I don't think she would have brought her car to a car meet unless she wanted to show it off. IMO

It pretty common for people at a meet to take pics and post pics of the people and cars at the meet. If you don't want people taking and posting pics you need to let folks know. From what I can tell, Ilan posted the pics because the car was at a public event, he liked it, and wanted to share w/ the rest of us. b4 xtra even got on the boards this morn to see 'em, others had posted saying maybe this wasn't the best idea. He apologized in advance and when she finally responded, he took down the pics and apologized some more. He's even stated he will withdraw from exd. This is because of all the haters. xtrawld - nice ride, ilan's pics are not up anymore, so take this time to put up some better quality pics, more angles, closeups, etc. I know that a majority of the forum has not seen 'em yet and that the rest, myself included, would really like to see more of it. There ya go, my 2 cents worth.

okay, xtra, i can understand your position here, but you've got to realize something.

first, let's get some facts straight.

1) ilan is not the author of the photos, nor is xtrawild. the author is an EGTclub member, hamishGT. he was the first one to arrive at the meet, and he only posted his pics at EGT club. he has every right to post them wherever he wants so long as no one asked him not to prior. he did not post them here or anywhere else, nor did he authorize anyone else to.

2) you were at a PUBLIC meet. people take photos at public events.

3) you could have easily put a note on your car or mentioned to the attendees that you would appreciate that photos of your car not be distributed. i am sure that no one had any bad intentions at all in posting the pics of your car. the author of the photos, EGTclub member hamishGT, is a nice person and probably had no idea you didn't want pictures of your car posted.

4) remember, most people at these meets WANT to show their cars off. if you didn't, you should have made that fact known. people can not read minds.

5) hamish has been asked to remove the photos. whether he will or not is his decision, as he is the author of them. he also did not authorize any photos to be linked here, so that is another issue altogether which i will not get into. i know him to be a nice guy and i am sure he will oblige your request.

I'm upset at the ORIGINAL person that posted the pics on another forum......I'm upset that it came here too, but had it not have been posted elsewhere, it wouldn't have come here.

I've been aware for awhile now about the request for removal on the other site.

And I fully understand the fact that I was at a public meet. And I'm not going to hold the car up in a garage because I think it's so damn secretive. But you guys are my family, and as such I would have liked to have been the person to show it off. I would have liked everyones approval and constructive critisism of my car. And would have also appreciated votes for potential COTM. You may all think I'm blowing this way out of proportion, but for me, this is honestly not a little thing.

like i said before, you can't expect people to read minds. although a lot of people here know each other, you can't assume that everyone knows your thoughts. not everyone knows you. as i said before, hamish had no idea you were keeping anything a secret. logic holds that if you were at a meet, then that in itself constitutes an end to any secrecy. if you are upset at anyone, please don't direct it at anyone other than yourself, be it an EXD member or EGTclub member. no one has done anything remotely wrong. quite the contrary, we are doing what we can to remove the pics and prevent further "damage".

Ok I still don't get it. The pics ended up here because there were pics from a meet at a different site this was not just about your car over at EGTclub. The pics were posted because we are dying to see what you car looks like because you have done some things that haven't been done in North America. Everyone has said they are sorry and the pics are now gone. I think that was pretty nice. No one said you were required to share the pics but that would be nice and go along with the community feeling we're looking for here. On the flip side you did not require that people not post pics of the meet you attended with you or your car pictured. I don't understand why you don't want to post your pics that you're happy with or run for COTM. Everyone has been supportive and want to see you car 'cause it's probably really f'ing hot. I'm not sure what I think of your car becuase I only saw a side shot that was then removed. How many times do the pic posters have to say sorry (for something they have no need to be sorry for) for you to be happy?

I've apologized to XTRA privately and I'll do it publicly as well. I am truly sorry. The pics were posted innocently. I have no desire to steal people's thunder from them nor create a s**t storm like has happened here.

This was my mistake, even though it was unintentional I'm sure everyone can understand why this is upsetting to XTRA after all the time and effort she's gone to, and her feelings of it not being perfect yet. In retrospect, considering XTRA's sig, I should've realized this.

Think about how automakers feel when people take spy shots. They put a hell of alot of work into their pre-production cars before auto shows, and Im sure they hate seeing their photos in motor trend before the show that they planned to introduce it at. However, I rarely see auto makers publicizing how pissed they are at motor trend. I really cant fathom how people feel it important to keep their car a secret. The only reason to keep the car a secret is for competitive purposes only, and there is very little that an exterior snapshot can tell about a car. as much as I hate to say it, and as many thousands of dollars I have spent on my cars, they're just cars. Maybe you could be really pissed if you were the fastest drag car in your class and someone published what gave you your edge, that costs you money...a few snapshots, they cost nothing.

wow when i first saw the pics of xtra's car i was blown away and i was all like woah! sweet...wish i had a GT...but now i realise she has every right to be upset...xtra didn't do anything wrong...Don't be negative to her and say "you should do this" or "you should do that" ... a body kit costs a lot of money with paint matching and whatnot.... she plans to spend more money to make her car even impressive....this was just the tip of the iceburg and i hope that what she has in store for us in the months to come will be even better...just my .02 :znaika:

It was too bad that the pictures got posted before Xtra had a chance to do the grand opening. I myself didnt see any pictures, been bugging her about it and she's been pretty secretive and quiet , which I understand. Its quite a big deal for someone to show off their prized possesion and its definately a turn on when you show off your car for the first time to a whole big group of people and you want to gauge everyone's reactions and you want a very very good reaction for all the hard work you put into it. I can understand Xtra's reaction to all this. She wanted everything to be perfect before she showed all of us, I mean, would you like to show a beat up picture of your car before you fixed it? No...

Ok guys.....thank you for all the comments and the critisism. I think that everyone understands the situation, my feelings and the feelings of others. I appreciate all the praise that you gave my car on those two lousy shots that were shown. (If you guys think those shots were good - wait till you see the good ones! :) ) I needed this thread and I think we all needed it too. It's a hell of a reminder about what happens when toes get stepped on, and attacks are made. Locking this thread would have proved that we can't grow up and I'm sure it will die in due time. You prolly realize that this was totally out of character for me to go buck like I did, but I was pretty upset at the time. Now that I've sat back and thought about everything I'm better. It's not like I will NEVER post the pics and I think everyone knows the amount of time and effort that went into making my car what it is when I drive it everyday. As far as some people having it saved on your computer - thank you for the compliment of saving it! Must mean you like it! I still have better shots than those and will show them in due time. I'm not upset that people think my car rocks, I feel really good about it, just would have liked it to have happened under better circumstances. I coulda totally went the other way and posted more pics of the car saying - oops the secret is out, but I didn't feel that was very fair. Thanks again to everyone for expressing their thoughts.
