Great job on the screen
thanks ilanpro, coming from you, thats a really great compliment... Any suggestions/advice on bondo? (not really bondo, but similar properties)
shawn :)
hmm that kinda came off like you are a prentincious (sp) bastard, lol not meant like that, just you are great with bondo and i respect your work :)
ilanpro
01-26-2005, 11:19 AM
For the bondo Just make sure you mix it right and try to shape it when is still not dry so you can minimize the sanding time
yeah, i found out the hard way that it sucks to work with like 2 min after mixing

Im I right on the HVAC?? Is a great idea
Also, Sed if you are going to keep it black use bumper moulding paint it matches pretty good

He lives in South FL, I am pretty sure the weather won't be a problem this weekend. I know it's going to be in the High 70's here. Prob warmer down south.
Looking good. So what color did you decided on the panel?
ilan,
yeah its for the HVAC, i had to completly fabricate a new latch system and a whole **** load of plastic fill, but it'll be so pimp when i am done.
Oh and no, everything that isn't silver in the car now

will be Krylon Mystic Blue (99% match of my seat's blue)

Sed , love the idea man, I am toying with the idea of the overhead HVAC yet, soon as I get m y beater and I can park the elantra for a summer car, I will get to it. You have inspired me
You can thank Ford for that ilan..
if you hadn't noticed i fell off the face of the planet for like 3 months.
But good ol ford got me back in the modding fever :)
Glad you like it, wait till you see this **** when its finished... seriously i am at half mast thinking about it!

Overhead HVAC would be sweet. Not to get too off topic, but with all the FG and molding, what about putting the HVAC down below, in the area forward of the shifter?
SED, keep the pictures coming.
i thought about that too, but i need my ashtray ;) and i like my cigg lighter for misc powering of cellular type items

Looks to me that the the HVAC is in the console the wrong way... looks like it's facing the passenger to me. I hope I'm wrong or that's the way you want it. The dash fascia looks really nice though.
super, yeah its facing the passenger side because only the passengers say something about the HVAC lol, i don't ever use it. only if it rains, and i have to defog.
The dash looks like **** man, the paint ran everywhere... I gotta repaint it. bull**** krylon

well the color i originally chose blew chuncks, so now i sanded it all down and reshot it with primer... I am going to go with a charcoal or similar gray..
wish me luck ...

Like I said yesterday, get the Testors metalizer in the titanium finish, I think you'll like the results. Of course you could always go for the ricer-in-progress look and put it back in the car stil in primer! Even better if you had overspray on the dash pad! LOL :D
the only thing with that sleeper, is my vents are breushed aluminum painted and so is the guage clulster surround, so I don't want everything metallic...
I think i'll go with just a subtle change like a charcoal

well.... that's the test fit..... I'm sure he's not gonna leave it looking like that.... Sed knows what he's doing.....
thats just overcoat of primer, thats one coat of primer with no sanding, just making sure the screen fits and still is functional before i spray it again with primer and actually paint it.
Hense the term TEST FIT

Yea, actually, I did see it, with the putty n all...
One question: what are you going to do about the buttons? it seems as if you wont be able to push them through those holes...
they are fully functional, thats why i did the test fit... and those are just power buttons and the color/contrast/brightness wheels next to it.

personally, i think it looks badass, and pretty much OEM

Is that charcoal gray??
Looks great, I do have a dumb question why didnt you put the radio on the bottom?
this way the screen would be easier to watch.
BlackElantraGT
01-30-2005, 10:45 PM
I think it might have been harder for him to do that because then he'd have to do more molding/sculpturing by not only making the screen part custom, but the radio slot would have to be custom made also. I know that was a bad explaination, I just can't find the right words at the moment.
black elantra gt has it perfect.
My head unit is a flip down type and it hit the tray at the bottom of the console...
I wish i didn't have a flip down because i wanted the screen up top....
oh well i have to live with it...
shawn :)
and yes, that is a GM color replacement, dark charcoal gray metallic...
badass

Looking good sed. I see you went with my suggestion on the dark gray metallic... looks awesome doesn't it. I totally agree with you on pictures doing no justice for the color.
Keep the pics coming (unless of course you're doing more important things - like helping Ford tune that SC).
yeah when i get home today its 2 more coats of color and 4 clears and i'm done

I found from some of my experiences that using a claybar works really well on metallic paints (since you can't wet-sand or you lose the metallic). I actually use the claybar exclusively now instead of high-grit wet sandpaper... it's a lot 'safer' for the paint with me.
claybar? sweet thanks

Good job Sed! Hey man, can you give a little quick instructions on what materials you were using to create this? Epoxy filler?
sure
I used a liquid plastic product from www.smooth-on.com
BUT I found out that regular old bondo will work just the same with a little bit more effort for 10% of the cost.
Just get some bondo, some CREAM hardner, a plastic knife and creativity
