Hey folks,
I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on the best way to paint the dash trim/console plastic along with other trim pieces in the car like the door switch panels? Just primer and Krylon paint?
Thanks
well, first take this piece off

It has two or three screws above the guage cluster and two behind the ashtray. After that it just pops out. Remove all the connectors in the back (Dash dim, fog lights, clock, and emergency flasher.(take note, signals do not work if emergency flasher is unplugged))
now unplug the cig lighter power, one pulls strait off and one is a clip.
You will need to put the tilt wheel all the way down and pull the whole panel out.. You have to have the drivers side door open to take it off btw.
All of the vents and switches come off with screws in the back, Take them all off, since you don't want overspray on the vents.
Ok, now you sand the entire thing down starting with 100 and go to 220 or 300 to rough it up a little. Spray it with one LIGHT coat of primer... You might not cover the entire thing completly, but thats ok.. Wait 10 - 15 minutes and spray it again.
If you think its enough, sand it again with 1000 g sandpaper to smooth it all out.
Then, spray it with some sort of plastic paint. 2- 4 VERY LIGHT coats. Be careful of the curves of the dash as they are horrible for runs.
Then 24 hrs later spray with 2 - 3 coats of clear.
any questions just ask
shawn :)
or and the door switch panels just pop right off.
the lower center console is held on by the shift nob and four screws. two in the front and two in the back. take the shift nob off and those screws and the entire panel lifts up and foward out.

There is a DIY with pics and locations of the clips and such in the DIY section, check it out, although Sed explained it pretty well.

Use bulldog after sanding it will make any paint stick to the plastic pieces even without sanding.
