I was going to add on to ELantraGirls thread but decided to start my own. I was wondering if this is all I would need to install a CAI.

I know almost nothing about cars(friends are gonna install it for me) other then what i've learned reading this site. It's been said a CAI from a 94-97 accord would fit my car. I have an Elantra GT 03. Is this correct?

Also, I was wondering if this would void my warranty in any way? Thanks for any help. It's most appreciated.

Welcome to the site. Yes, 94-97 Accord - 4 cyl only.

Probably want to get a two piece design and a 2½ diameter size if you can find for a simpler install.

The Search button is your bud here...

and in the future, remember that it's better to add on to an exsiting thread if it applies to your situation. It helps keep the forum clean, keeps all of the information together so you can search easier....

It's also a good idea to read through a couple pages of the forums. There is a lot of useful information here, and I'm sure you read about doing things to your car you never imagined before.

Welcome to the site.... sorry if it sounded like like I was scolding you.... it wasn't meant that way. If you have any more questions, just ask, we try to help each other out as much as we can....

Seems I need more practice with the search button. I did several searches and didn't come up with that thread. It was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for all the info.

Ok dumb question I know, but well i'm dumb at this stuff. The diameter yall are talking about is the filter diameter right? So if I get a CAI from ebay that has a 3'' filter will I be able to buy a 2.5"" filter later on? The 3 inch filters can possibly slow down your car I heard?

The diameter is of the pipe.

The filters are all about the same size ~6 to 7" diameter at the widest part, tapering to about 4" at the closed end. There's a rubber fitting on the intake pipe end that reduces the 6" filter diameter to the pipe diameter.

I found that a 3" CAI made my car louder (resonance in the intake pipe, perhaps?). When I went to a 2.5" intake the car was quieter. I never dynoed it, so I don't know about the HP/torque loss.

I just bought a 2005 Elantra GLS. Is this a perfect fit for my car (no mods)?

with an '05, just make sure you've got whatever extra stuff may be needed to attach the MAF sensor inline with the tubing. Might require cutting the tube, it might not, I don't know. That's the biggest thing that's held me back from getting a CAI for my '04.

The gains with the CAI are decent, but most likely more noticable with a stick car. The car sounds completely different with the CAI. Here are some sound clips of my Accord bombz cold air intake.

There was some pix posted that showed a really nice CAI with the CVVT MAF sensor retrofit for an 04 by mahonroy.

With the Accord CAI, you have to cut 3-4" away from the upper tube in order to install the stock MAF inline. Need extra couplers, clamps, 6-packs. :) With the non-CVVT, you don't need to do anything to the upper tube. Can't wait to do my '04 once spring hits!

I was wondering what it would sound like....thats pretty fricken sweet. Can't wait to get mine. Now I wish I'd gotten a manual though :(

BTW, this won't void my warranty will it? Only if it somehow causes engine trouble, correct?

How can something hyundai doesnt know about void your warranty ? ;) If you bring it to the dealer, tic-toc, 15 mins, swap it back to the stock unit.

There are chances, but your risk of hydrolocking you engine will be dramatically increased. If this happens it can void the warrenty.

theres alot of stuff thats gunna void the warranty, and yes a CAI or SRI will. Just learn to swap it out quickly before u take it to the dealer.

I took my car with the CAI in to the dealership for an oil change and I didn't get any problems. I guess it just depends on where u go to get your service done.
