Does anyone know how to defeat the safety feature of the in dash screen so that it plays when I drive? I know that I can connect it to a switch instead of the parking brake. Somebody mentioned it a while back I just dont remember who.

There is a green wire that has to be connected to the parking brake or screen wont play when parking brake is off. Do I connect to a ground or power?

Exactly how I feel! But I have also heard it should be connected to ground. But then again I have heard that somebody connected it to a switch, which makes me think it should be connected to a positive. Dont wanna take a chance!

grounding a wire will not hurt the unit...try that first...however, putting power to a wire that isn't supposed to have it (if there is a universal ground on the system/wiring harness) could cause some problems.

I heard to ground out the safety wire also.

I meant the wire that comes out of his In-Dash LCD that makes it only active when the car is in park

...if it requires a power source, then connecting it to a ground will do nothing (the unit just will work in park/or maybe not at all)

if it is a power wire that requires a ground, then grounding it will work out fine..

IN OTHER WORDS GROUNDING THAT SAFETY WIRE IS THE FIRST CHOICE HE SHOULD MAKE WHEN DECIDING HOW TO DEFEAT THE SAFETY FEATURE!!!!!

When you hook up a swich you put a ground on one side of the switch and the park brake sense wire to the other side of the switch, so when the swich is off there is nothing on the park wire(to unit), and when its swiched on it connects the wire to ground.

If you do this, make sure you have the correct wire and disconnect it from where its currently running and tape the end you dont want up, if you dont whenever its swiched on the park light on your dash will light.

Be careful, if you put ground on a speaker output wire, you will blow the output IC controll chip (a $150 repair)

I wonder where exactly should be the wire connected, i suppose that the wire should be connected to the one that comes from the parking brake to the dash, and put on the parking brake warning, its so, then you should connect the wire to whatever 12 volts source you want, since that wire will work as the "remote" wire (the one that starts ours amps) in ours cd receivers.
