Interesting, but expensive.

Also I think I'd prefer to have a separate monitor instead of giving up some of my rear view mirror area.

I'll have to look around, but I've also seen a concept car with cameras instead of side mirrors, too. The best thing about cameras is that they can see angles you can't see from the driver's seat.
