I am going to buy two 12" Audiobahn Alum12Q, and was wondering what amp to use for these two subs. They are each rated at 1000 watts RMS so I was thinking a 2 channel 2000 watt amp??? Any suggestions?!?!?!

US Acoustics Amps, some of the better singal to noise ratio amps I have found, and they're USA made.

Thanks, and another question, If you look at the specs for these subs it says it take 3 ohms or 12 ohms. What are they talking about?, and should I take this into consideration when picking out an amp??? Any help is great thanks

yes, they're dual voice coil speakers with each coil providing 6 ohms of resistance, wired in series you get 12 ohms, in parallel 3 ohms. When wiring both speakers with all the coils in parallel onto an amp you would show a total load of 1.334 ohms , so look for an Amp that 1 Ohm stable.
P.S. Try to match the constant wattage(RMS) of the speakers to the RMS output of the amp, within 5-10%. You'll be less likely to blow a speaker or burn an amp the closer you can match it.

Or you can always just buy a two channel amp and run each speaker on its own channel. The alama12q has a rms wattage of 1000, any decent 2000 watt amp is gonna cost a fourtune. I have my two aluma12q's on a Pioneer premier prsx-720 at 332 watts per channel and thay are just fine.
just remember, a 1 ohm stable 2 x 1000w quality amp that won't turn off after 4 - 5 minutes of playing will cost you a gnote or better....
Just because they can handle 1000w RMS, doesn't mean you have to put a 1000w into each speaker. Nicole has two audiobahn flameq 10's and they are rated @ 850w RMS, we have a rockford fosgate punch series 2 ohm stable 500 x 2 and that thing will ****ing blow your socks off...
Just remember with this system you will need an upgraded battery and/or capaciter.

I agree with Sed about the Rockford Stuff, I had a Punch Series amp BD1000.1 which ran 1000w RMS and 1200w peak hooked up to two Alpine Type R 12" DVC subs. This thing shook your insides. You dont need anymore than 1000RMS thats just unconventional and rediculous.

If you under power the speakers too much you could actually burn the amp and yet not blow the speaker, I've done it a few times.

Ok audiophiles...I'm curious as to why folks go w/ amps and big speaker boxes over powered subs (like bazookas)? Someone school me on this.
tightness, customization options, sound quality, power handling, spacing, wiring....
same way some people want to make LED guages instead of buying pre fabbed ones...
I know for me its cause i like doing the work from design to last touch

OK...got ya. I was going to get a 12" powered Bazooka 1) for ease of install and 2) because it's fairly mobile and easy to handle. Point being, I have 2 dogs, 1 of them is a 150lb Wolfhound that takes up most of the back...so I need to be able to move the sub out of the way fairly easily/quickly.
Thanks for 'splainin' to me. I wasn't sure if the Bazookas were a lot more inferior or just a matter of preference. To be honest, I'm not sure I could appreciate a really high end speaker system anyway since I'm actually quite happy with my stock setup...except for the lack of bass.
thats why the tubes and self powered exist....
because not everyone wants a huge system in their car..
to each their own, which is why its such a huge market.

I found a really cheap 1000 x 2 Bridged output amplifier to use for the 2 alum12q subs. I realize that this can be loud but cant you regulate the bass production through the reciever? The 1000 watt rms means that it has the potential to be that loud, but doesnt always have to be that loud? right?
The model name is Pyle PLA4380
Anyway, here is the website to the specs
Pyle PLA4380 (http://www.brilliant-electronics.com/car_amplifiers_pyle_pla4380.htm)
Well, My question is will this be a good quality amp for these subs and will it work?
Please answer all my questions thank you
That amp will cut out after 5 minutes of playing...
Its 1000w x 1 @ 1 ohm.... thats ****ing crazy, that amp will overheat faster than Pamela Anderson.
You could wire it in series with those subs @ 4 ohms and get 250w x 2 and it'll hit all dy but won't be load.
AND pyle is well known for testing their amps @ 14v or higher... a voltage you will NEVER get to an amp.... Let them test it @ 12v and see how much the power drops.
Go with a CEA compliant amp, they are bench tested at 12.2 - 12.5 constant volts and are true to their power claims.
For 200 bucks, get a monoblock 1000.1 rockford fosgate on ebay.
thats just my .02
