I have a 02 gls
i want to replace the belts myself. there are 2 belts, correct ?
i've replaced belts before on a t-bird, grand am.( only the serpertine belts )
they had a tenisioner, i pull up on to remove and install the new one.
what is the procedure on the 02 ?, and how do i replace the power steering belt. what do i need to remove to replace the ps belt ?
can someone give me some step by step instructions ?

and there are 3 belts, not 2.

ok here we go....
Jack up the car, take off the pass wheel.
Two 10mm nuts take off the dust guard.
then get under the car and look directly above the oil filter. There is a 13mm bolt you need to loosen on the passenger side of the alt. bracket.
now, on the right side of the alt tension screw is the screw that holds tension. Loosen this almost all the way, then use another 13mm and loosen the bolt directly to the left of where you just loosened. As the bolt loosens, you can move the alt. Push the alt towards the back of the car and pull the belt off.
The second belt is a little tricker.
If you look right above the crank pulley there is a tensioner... Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt with a 13mm and then directly down and to the left, still on the tensioner is a 10mm bolt, as you loosen the bolt the tension will slck on the belt, take it off..
Power steering belt has tension on the power steering pump, there are two blots just like the alt...

not as simple as it used to be ! not when it's in the 30's and snow on the ground.....(lol) you have been very helpful...thank you very much. the dealer wants 190 bucks for the job. i will have to weigh my options.
