3/4 of my headlights decided to go out this week (the one remaining I had just replaced last year, the rest were from manufacturer, so I'm not too worried). I had no problem replacing the headlight bulbs with Sylvania SilverStar (http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/HighPerformance/Silverstar/default.htm), thanks to the handy "3-bolt headlight removal" method.

Getting to the fog lights is an entirely different matter. I can unscrew the cap and fiddle around with the clasp and wires but can't seem to get them out. I can't imagine how I'd get them back in.

Is there a way to easily remove the fog light housing similar to pulling the headlight assembly, so I can pull and replace the bulbs safely?

I've changed them without taking the foglights out on my '02 XD GT; I just ran the front end up on ramps.

After you unscrew the cap, you need to squeeze the two sides of the clips (I believe it's the top and the bottom; they're shaped like a [ to release them, and while squeezing them swing them sideways. The bulb just fits in a hole in the lens -- just make sure to notice which way the notch in the bulb flange fits in.

Replace the bulb the same way -- do not touch the glass, and you should be good.

same thing for me ... just jacked the car and went under the bumper ... it's an easy thing, but you have to be patient ... took me something like 30 minutes to put them back, i didnt remember the way i took them off, and cant see clearly. Put xenon blue 70 watts, you'll see a huge difference .. :)

Thanks for the tips. I don't have a lift/ramps so I may have to jack it up like you suggest and go at it this way.

Elpi, I was curious about your choice of bulbs. Others have suggested yellow bulbs for fogs--do you notice improved visibility with the blues? I'm not so worried about looks for these, since there is real fog where I live about every morning lately, and at night. Anything to keep me from hitting deer is what I'm going for.

You don't have to lift the front end up to do it, but it would make the job much easier if you did. It took me more than an hour to install, especially since I have fat hands and arms. A smaller person will have a much easier time doing this install.

If you have a lot of fog, I wouldn't recommend putting blue Xenon bulbs in as it would only make your visibility worse. True fog lights use amber light, so the yellow bulbs should help out with fog.

makes me not feel quite so stupid having spent a freakin half hour trying to get the bulbs out this weekend. Dang things are really crammed in there. :P Freaked my apartment neighbor out with my head crammed up under the front end, lying in the parking lot.

Someone had mentioned diachromatic bulbs on another thread...anyone have a preference for amber foglights? (Manufacturer/links?)

It does take a while. I neglected to mention that it took me 45 minutes to change mine, too...
