Alright, I just ordered over $1k of stuff from www.Crutchfield.com
I'm totally redoing my trunk, it won't look as good or be as loud as it did, but oh well. I'm gonna go with 4 10"s instead, removing one of my Fosgate BD500's and a Cap. I'll wire the system in series/parallel to achieve 1ohm at the amp which should push almost 940 clean digital watts. I needed to make room for a nitrous tank , hehe.
I found an extra 1 farad cap unopened in my closet from when we moved last, and I have this used 1 farad. Maybe I'll offer either to sammy since it sounds like he could use one.
If anyone was interested in making a purchase @ crutchfields, they gave me a referall code: p67k9-1ydb6-ws3qx
If you use the code for a $200+ purchase you get $20 off instantly, just thought I could help you guys out.
Thank god I was home, the UPS guy just left my speakers on the porch, lovely. Well, here they are, and this is the first test of the camera on my phone:

New system installed. Just waiting for some final accessories to trim it up so it looks as good as it sounds, so I'll take pictures afterwards. The 0/1 ga. was a PITA to install but very worth it.
After some fine tuning, these are my settings. I have the bass knob for the amp turned all the way down, the bass boost off on the sony Xplod deck, and the gain set to just under half way on the digital amp. At around 1/3rd volume, the bass hits so hard you have to wait to take a breath and you can't see the road. At 2/3rd's volume the bass is clearly heard a block away, seriously!!
I haven't begun to push these speakers yet, I'm too afraid the back window will blow out.

I bet that system slows down you 1/4 mile time.

Install looks kinda messy, you should've tried to make a custom inclosure out of fiberglass, that way you can show off your system the right way. Just out of curiousity, why 4 punch 10's instead of maybe just a couple of Eclipse 10's or 12's?
Here's a fiberglass hot to link:

On the fiberglass enclosure route, I already know how to build one, but that'll be done later. It's a daily driver and I have 2 young boys that ride in it, so the down time and the fumes are a big issue. That's why we're considering adding a Tucson or that new minivan to our Hyundai family. Then I can have full time access to the Elantra to do what I want to it.
As for choosing Fosgate, I've tried all the brands(Sony, Pioneer, JBL, JL, Eclipse, Kenwood, blah, blah, etc.) and I'm a tried and true Fosgate fan. Besides the fact that you can beat the hell out of Fosgate stuff and not worry.
I've had (2) 10's, (2) 12's, (4) 12's. I decided on a (4) 10's setup mainly because:
1.)It saved space over my original (4) 12's setup I had planned.
2.)It's much louder that (2) 10's or 12's of any brand I've had, and before you say try DVC's or something, I don't want more amplifiers to push only 2 speakers, just more bass.
I'll take a picture tomorrow in the daylight and further back so you can see how "clean" the install is. FYI, I used Monster speaker tips, 12 ga. Streetwire Speakerwire throughout, Stage 3 Zero Noise Streetwire RCA's, 1/0 ga Streetwires power and ground cables, screw in post adapters for my Optima 34/78 with 1/0 ga. (+) & (-) terminals, 200A ANL fuse, 1 Farad Fosgate cap., (4) almost invisible security straps sunk into the frame of the car.
VTElantra: The Elantra drives like a pregnant cow(Nitrous will solve that, hehe) but it also seems to have balanced out the weight too what feels like almost 50/50.
billydog: If you're ever in town, I'll give ya a ride and it'll justify that holy moly.

Atomic -- can you take more pics when you get a chance? I'd like to see the scale of the speaker box relative to the rest of the car...

lol you don't have a car, you have subs and a wheeled box to transport them in! :D

I think that's overkill. One of the benefits of owning a hatchback is the ability to haul a lot of cargo. Not only that, but if this car also is used by the family, I don't know if I'd want my kids's ears to be damaged by 4 subwoofers.
Personally I don't understand why people love earth shattering bass. I like my bass tight & loud enough to where it enhances my music, not to the point where it destroys my hearing and drowns out everything else. When I had my old car I had one 12" JL Audio sub and that was more than enough for me.

Ah, let the guy do what he wants :)
You love your projector foglights which other people probably don't, and he loves his system. Everyone is happy :), let's let it be ;)
now, atomic, get your lazy *** up and GO TO SOME FRIGGIN SPL CONTESTS!!!!!!!!!!! :Blasting_ :dj: :diablo: :nosthumbs
EDIT: how is the box(es) holding to the ground? As in, did you strap them to the bottom of your trunk or is it just the weight holding everything down? (i dont think so tho)

Audio anything & everything is my hobby, it helps me release, I just plain enjoy hooking it up and tuning it. My 3 yr old came out while I was tuning the system the other day, he screamed "It's too loud!!!" and ran back in the house. I -ALWAYS- turn my subs off @ the deck when my boys are in the car, as well as at stop lights, I know no one else wants to hear it.
I need to run down to Ultimate Electronics eventually and see if they'll throw the meter in there for no charge. I used to work there, so hopefully someone I know will hook me up. Otherwise, I might be using a cheapy Radio Shack meter for now, if they still sell them.
I'm thinking of going with Sat. Radio next, since my CD player can't handle the bass for more that 10 sec. at half volume.

hehehe Remember the beginning of Back to the Future with Michael J. Fox in front of the giant speaker?
Atomic can sell his car to the military as a portable sonic missile shield: the SDS - Subwoofer Defense System!
Actually, I'm impressed, but DAMN! :D

Nice! The great thing is with them firing towards the back of the car if you run out of gas you can just turn up the volume to move the car -- I imagine you could get up to at least 35mph with the bass alone! ;)
But seriously...
Wow, that's a big enclosure; but I guess it sounds good with that much sealed air volume behind those Punch subs.
Do you normally have them firing towards the rear, or did you just turn the enclosure that way to show it in the pics?
Atomic

LOL, you guys are great!!
I always have the subs fire towards the rear, makes the bass bounce around in the hatch before it can exit out the front. Also, I like to open the hatch to show people, and with it firing at you, it's ohhh so nice.
Speaking of the running out of gas situation, I've lost 2 mpg after I added these, hehe.

Alright, time for a new deck, this $500 2 yr old. Sony Xplode didn't even last a month against the torture of my new setup.
So I need some suggestions for a new deck. Here's what I'd like at the least: Single DIN, CD player, AM/FM Tuner, Digi Sat. Ready or Built-In, RCA Pre-Out's(Front, Rear, Sub & prefer High Voltage), 1 RCA Aux. Input. Needs to handle MAD amounts of bass for extended periods. Thanks.

Just saw this thread... Holy low-frequency overkill batman! But overkill isn't a bad thing, lol. The back of your car looks like the police/military would back your car up and blare in loud music during standoffs, like they did in Waco.

have you fired them up yet? it should be alot louder if you face the sus tward the hatch glass.
Atomic

I used to fire my subs upwards into the glass on my camaro and it was loud, but with these I think I'd blow out the glass. The big problem I have is the license plate and frame bounce about 2 inches off the hatch everytime it hits hard, causing a nasty rattle. Nobody in town close to me has a meter to test the DB's, the one at my old job got stolen.

trust me you wont blow out the glass, not to diss your setup 4 RF punch 10's with less than 250watts to each won't blow out your hatch. you'll be fine & louder. the glass will reflect much more of the bass back into the car than the metal parts of the hatch can. the glass is actualy stronger.
*** for your tag rattle... everyone will like this one :) get an old mouse pad, fold it in half twice, so it is about 3" X 3" 1/2"thick and tuck it behind your your plate. you may need to partly remove the plate bolts completely. The key is that when the tag is remounted that is it domed out and the mouse pad is aplying constant pressure on the plate.
Dynamat extrame tag kit = $40 (won't stop tag flap)
my patent pending tag fap kit = $9 (won't stop trunk noise)
it is the only way I have found to stop tag flap on cars with only two tag bolts.
P.S. center the mouse pad betwene the tag bolts not the tag it self.

what is the max voltage input your amps can handle?
pioneer (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4039_63891892,00.html) @ 4 volt output
pioneer premier (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4041_76829766,00.html) @ 6.5 volts
eclipse (http://www.eclipse-web.com/cd/cd5435.html) @ 5 volts
eclipse (http://www.eclipse-web.com/cd/cd8445.html) @ 8 volts
just a few that came to mind

Cool, the Fosgate BD Amp I have can accept any amount of voltage input, no source is "too hot". That way more voltage in = I can turn the gain on my amp down to almost nothing. Since I'm running it at 1-ohm that'll really help with preventing my amp from overheating and kicking in the protection circutry while I'm cruising(GRRRR) this summer. That Eclipse 8 volt is perfect, that'll probably be my selection.
FastKingCab: I went ahead and layed the speaker box down, as you suggested, to try it out since we rarely use the trunk as it is. I must say it's MUCH louder and you can hear it from even further away at lower volumes, although a whole new batch of odd rattles has sprung up now, hehe. Also, now I can "hide" the system if needed with my trunk cover again. Thanks.
