I just got done spending an hour searching the Internet for after market Tails.
(of course to no avail)
So I decided to see if a voice could be heard I went to the following site and wrote them an EMail.
http://www.inprocarwear.com/companyinfo.html
I hope many will follow suit and maybe we can get something going.
I have been everywhere in search of tail lights for an 02 Hyundai Elantra, and have not come up with anything. I know that this is a very popular car, and in fact many people from all over have been searching for the same thing. There are Internet sights devoted souly to the Elantra and adding to the styling. It is hard to believe that I can find everything from turbo intakes, to body kits but no after market lights.
Thank you for you're time

chill evan...
and what you posted are NOT aftermarket tails... it's a do-it-yourself thing, and possibly NOTHING like what he wants.
anyway, if you had actually read the post you'd know that he's asking a merchant about aftermarket tails, not asking us if there are any.

thank you. thats exactly what I am saying. I thought we as a group (Elantra owners) could get this if we all come together, and let them know that there are many people who own these cars who would purchase such an item.

Well, a search good have yielded good results, including this thread:
Here (http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3038&highlight=spiido)
Nobody is going to make aftermarket tails for us, it's probably best that way.

yeah, there may be 20 people who want these, but as people have said before, it cost big $$ to make molds, etc etc...way more than the sale of 20-30 sets of tail lights
fact is, the elantra is not a sporty car, and there is not enough demand to produce them, which is why we dont have any

It really doen't take big money to make those...but it is about a return on investment and market potential. Like you said...very few compared to say...Civic owners (those bastards...I can say this...I was one).
As for why we don't have any...I say it's both the demand and the fact that Elvis and the mothership have not returned from Pluto to overthrow our human government. Otherwise they'd be prolific.

ive already talked to someone who does this kind of work...its no cheap project...making molds and getting it to fit/work properly is a big investment...many thousands of dollars...say theyre able to sell 20 sets...for 200$...say 30....thats 6k$...it would cost much more to develop them, and seeing how theyre only good for 01-03 elantra GLS...not too many people are going to be buying them, so they dont make them

probly because the taillight changed after 3 years(01-03) and there is a new design taillight and they will probly change the design again so they would be no point in massproducing taillights for one genration of elantra.....but they sould.anywho i plan on making f/g taillight covers and eyelids later and hope you guys like them

makes me wonder why the hell they made them for an accent before the elantra...hell, at least the elantra has the same engine as the tib, so it makes it a little sportier

Well, I got a reply today in response to my Email and this is what they said.
Dear ......:
Sorry we do not carry the taillights for the 02 Elantra either. However, I
will forward your comments to our Research and Development Department for
further evaluation. Thank you for your e-mail. Please feel free to check
out our new items on our website www.inprocarwear.com .
Best regards,

yes this is an Email sent to make me think it made a difference.
I can say I know some people might think its not worth the time. but the most they can say is no, but if you dont ask you will never know.

Ok...Sledge...I emailed them too. I figure if they get enough emails/interest they'll be more likely to make them.
Maybe this forums admin(s) could give them a number count on the total number of members here and that would give IPCW a better "head count" so to speak. Not that ALL of these folks would buy them, but just give them a rough idea on just this one site's member base.

To get somebody to make them, you will probably have to setup a group buy with a manufacturer.... This way the company knows it's at least going to sell some of the lights. I'm guessing that this is the only way we're going to get some made, unless they're custom made by an individual. Keep in mind that there are 3 styles of tails between XD, XD2, and hatch. Then, you have to decide on something you like. If you think this would be easy, take a look at this (http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3038&highlight=spiido) thread or the CF hood poll threads (there are 4 or 5 if you search hood poll). We are a diverse bunch with very different tastes....
I don't want it to sound like I'm telling you it will never happen and you're stupid to think it will.....
However...... I do want you guys to see the reality of the situation. The odds are stacked against you showing a maufacturer that there are sufficient numbers of people interested to mass produce lights.
You're probably going to be better off buying a set of used tails to start with and fabricating something yourself (or finding somebody else to do it for you). This way, you will have something completely custom, and you don't have to worry about what everybody else in the GB wnted, or that only enough hatch people got together to get them made, etc. Maybe you can even sell your creation to other members with setup a system like Ford does with intakes.
This is where this group has been the most successful in the past, and is one of our greatest strengths. We don't just wait around for companies to make stuff for us... we find a way to make it work on our own. Look at things like the HVAC LED conversion, the Multigauge, figuring out that an Accord intake works for us...... All of this was figured out by people that decided to take matters into their own hands to get what they wanted for this car.
If someone can get a company to make tails for us, that would be a great achevement. If not, let's see that pioneering spirit and make your own!
