I went to Tweeter and got a quote for some audio. I already have a good head unit. Let me know what you think - I'm a bit worried that the 8" is kinda ghetto.
Front: MB Quart PCE216 - $499
Rear: MB Quart RCE216 - $299
4 x AMP: JL Audio JL3004 - $499
1 x Sub AMP: JL Audio JL2501 - $399
Sub: JL Audio 8W7 - $399
Custom 8" Ported Enclosure - $275
36 Sq feet of Dynamat Extreme - $249
Total: $2619 + $1047 for Labor/Cables/Tax = $3666
Gotta love a total with 666 in it. Any recommendations?

Do you have a photo of your custom enclosure? How much did you cover with that 36 sq. ft?
Thanks!

Get some more quotes and see if you can find any stores that will do installs w/o you buying all the equipment there. Tweeter's prices are on the high side.
Your front components are going for $250 on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32819&item=5756608944&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW).

I'll install it all for you for $600. Tweeter charges way too much for audio and installation. I even have a friend who works at tweeter that agrees they charge too much. If you were interested in the MB Quart QSD , you can get them for about 6 something off of infinate car audio and just worry about back speakers later. It's a pretty good setup and I'm sure you would be happy with it. But you can definately find everyhting cheaper online.

Seems like an awful lot of money to spend on a stereo system for a car with as much interior road and drivetrain noise as an Elantra.
Do some research ... I am sure you can get much better prices now that you know what items you want.

alright im gonna chime in because i am an audio fanatic........i love sound, subwoofers, speakers, basically anything that deals with audio.........the MB Quartz are amazing, but for the price, they are not that much better than the infinity kappa speakers, which are about 250$ cheaper on ebay brand new.......and jl audio can also be on the expensive side but they are a very good brand...me personally, i am gonna spend 1900$ on my new system in a couple of months.......
Infinity Kappa 6 1/2 Component Set.....150$
Infinity Kappa 6x9.....150$
Infinity Reference 7540a 4 Ch. Amp......250$
2 Audiobahn 12'' Eternal Series Subs (1300 Watt RMS Each).....300$
2 Audiobahn a12001dt Amp.....700$
1 Audiobahn 5 Farad Capacitor.....200$
Optima Yellow Top Battery.....150$
Total.....1900$
Everything is gonna sound amazing with a lot of thump, which is what i love, and im getting more things than you for a little more than half the price, and im installing everything myself so no labor fees....
Sean
also, y r u getting 4 of the 300/4 amps....they do 75w RMS at 4 ch...what do you need another 3 for?

I have no installation experience whatsoever plus I don't have much free time. I'm more of a computer guy than an audio guy. When I listed "4 x AMP: JL Audio JL3004 - $499" I meant for the "4" to show how many channels the amp is. The sub amp is 1 x as in 1 channel.
I think Infinity makes some great stuff - I listened to it at Crutchfield. Unfortunately Tweeter doesn't carry their stuff. And Crutchfield is 2 hours away.

Paul,
Please, Please, Please don't spend that much money. That equipment you listed can be had for way less. That is way too much for installation, especially. I hate to sound like a parent, (I am one times 3;) but you can invest that money a buy an audio setup with the proceeds of your investment. Wait for Southpaw to reply here. He knows his stuff, and I'm willing to bet he can suggest a comparable system for a lot less.

I think the real jist of what people are saying is yes this is a very solid sytem, but tweeter has outragous prices (especially for install). You can search for the same products online (and still get warrenties) and get way better prices. Only you can decide the best sounding products for your car, so listen to what ever is available. I agree that infinity speakers sound good for a decent price, but I have MB quart qsd and between the 2 I would go MB any day.

seems like 3666 is entirely to much for money .... i always wait to by my stereo stuff when there is an expo or something of the sort. i got my 2 10 audiobahn subwoofers, sony HU, light audio 1000 watt amp, 100 sq ft of sound dampaner (which i ve now used in a total of three cars, my box ,wiring and everything for about 600.. i did all the installation myself though.. can't complain cheaper is better i think

$3,666 is just barely more than I've spent on ALL the mods for my car so far. Too much money in the stereo if you ask me. Unless you're going to compete with it, I doubt you'd get three-and-a-half-thousand dollars of usage out of it, IMO. Nice looking spec-sheet though.

Well, I finally have everything installed. I managed to save a lot of money through various means. About $2600 for parts/labor.
mb quart pce216 (component in front and coax in rear)
jl 300/4
jl 8w7 with jl enclosure
jl 250/1
monster 401xln interconnects
monster power kit
+spacers, speaker cable, etc.
I already had a good head unit: Pioneer DEH-8500MP. Everything sounds good, really tight bass.
