Good God, why the hell would I want to buy anything in that frickin' store?

Berkshire Mall, Wyomissing, PA: Today while my wife and I were out I wanted to show her the car stereos I was looking at, so we went to the Circuit City in that mall (had a Alpine CDA-9831) and a Tweeter. The second we walked through the Tweeter entrance a pimply-faced sales kid was on top of us and literally hounded us to the point where I pointed at the Pioneer DEH-P960MP to my wife and said 'I'm getting that, but not here' and left.

Talk about pushy. I don't like electronic megastores anyway, but DAMN. And to top it all off, they were selling the stereo for $200 more than on the 'net and it wasn't even in stock.

Hey man, that mall seems to be dying a slow death, you were probably just the first human they had seen all day.

All kidding aside, I hate electronics stores. They all overcharge, and they all hold you down 'til you agree to buy the service plan that does nothing but cost you more in the end. Forget it. I go in to play with the displays and choose what I want, then I go get it WAY cheeper online.

I had the system in my last car installed by Circuit City. They solder everything so there are no wire nuts or butt connectors to come apart. They were very thorough and neat about the total install. They covered the seats and floorboards with vinyl and vacuumed the car when they were finished.

They also guarantee their workmanship for the life of the automobile and you can take it to ANY Circuit City so long as you have your receipt for the original install. You never would have known they ripped apart most of the interior of the car to run wires and cables. They also do a complete walkaround with you before installation and note any dings, dents, scratches or defects in the body of the car. They do a complete electronic component and lighting check of the car and note any malfunctions such as any lighting that is not operating or any other items that are not working properly. Alarm, keyless entry, power locks, power windows, power seats, dash and exterior lighting, HVAC operation, windshield wipers ... they check everything for operation before they do ANYTHING to the car. I like that part. If they mess something up, they will take responsibility for it.

As far as the service plan ... just say no. It's that easy.
