I searched the forums and didn't really find the answer to my question. I'm sure Southpaw has figured out an easy way to get the horn to chirp when you lock the car via keyless entry. A lot of times I'm already walking away and don't see the light flash as an indication the system armed. I would like the horn to chirp so I can verify the system locked. Is there a DIY somewhere for this?

Thanks,
Curtis

I just lock it twice. Mine chirps on the second hit.

Mine's an '04 though...

When you lock your car via keyless entry, press the button again within four seconds. The car will give you an audible signal.

If you pressed the button within four seconds and do not hear the chirp, the doors will still lock but it indicates that a door is not properly closed (or the hood is not properly latched).

That only works on 04+ models (maybe 03, but I think only 04 and newer). My Santa Fe does that too, but not my 02 Elantra.

I try to refrain from honking. It is a big decrease in masculanity from my '93 Cougar's horn to this. Atleast this car is running though.LOL

Do yourself a favor... Go buy a Fiamm Dual tone or Low tone horn. Much better. About $15 from JCWhitney.

I'm glad mine doesn't chirp. I think that the chirp is annoying. I lived in a townhome once, and some younger people who would come in and out all night; would chirp there alarm. I would jump out of bed sometimes. Also, when people do this in parking lots, I just about have a heart attack.
