Watching CNN right now,
Starting 2006, Hyundai will be including STANDARD XM radio into their cars!
A first for the auto industry!!
There's no story on cnn.com yet though :(

Cool, tho I still don't get Sat. Radio. It's going the way of Cable TV afterall.

I believe other manufacturers are already offering sat radio in their cars. I think with GM you get 1 year free with the purchase of cars equipped with the sat radios. Though they may offer Sirius instead of XM. So, it may be a first for someone to offer XM radios in the cars.

I wish they would have gone with Sirrius..... They got off to a slower start, but they're getting all the big programming deals right now... NFL, Howard Stern, etc...
and I hope they give you a couple years free with it too..... or at least the first....

Coolness. My girlfriend had it in her Vibe when it was free and now she is too poor to get it back, but it was pretty cool. My friend with the Jetta got the portable one, and it works well too, I just like the clean'ess of having it in the stock deck.
Definintely something I'm going to look into.
Oh, and I can't imagine the Accent having standard XM, but maybe. I can't wait to see something official from Hyundai.

I heard Sirius is getting NASCAR within the next couple years, that should be interesting, considering GM and XM were pretty linked together there, I wonder if Dodge or Ford is going to offer Sirius in their cars?
98 Rock sucks down here, the reception is horrible (obviously because we are further away).

My favoirte station of all time is Q102 (102.1) it's a philly station and you can only get it in southern jersey or similar...:)
I have a friend with XM. It is pretty nice not having to listen to DJ's all of the time.

GM's initial free XM is 3 months then my friend has to pay the 9.99 a month for it.

I have Sirius in my car, I love it. I listen to Techno/Dance/House so you gotta understand, its hard to get that type of stuff on the radio. We have 1 station in Seattle that offers it, but its Dance. And I don't like the newer songs. Some good old Techno or House really makes listening good. I dunno about XM, but I hear its better than Sirius so if I did by a newer car I'd have it hooked up for sure too! NO commercials! And all the swearing you want!! Satallite radio is awesome. This DJ on the Dance channel goes "Fack Fack Fack Sh!t Sh!t, B!tch @ss motherfacking hoes, suck a peenis!!! HAHA Damn FCC can't do **** to me!!" I just started laughing my *** off I was trying not to crash.

I really think for $10 a month it's worth it. Not a bad deal at all. More stations, less commercials (if any), and like Pumbaa says, no censorship.
Plus XM has a Playboy channel (although, you do have to pay extra). And, it seems like it would raise the amount of car crashes quite a bit, ha.

Heard this on the news this morning.....everyone was praising Hyundai to be the first manufacturer to make this standard.

This is nice but for those of us who don't spend a lot of time in our cars, not really necessary. I have an XM-ready radio in my car but don't have it hooked up because at this time, I can't justify the $10 a month for spending no more than a half hour or so at a time in my car.
Just went to XM's website and as of April 2nd, the price is going up. See here: http://www.xmradio.com/serviceupdate/index.jsp. I wanted to check out what stations they offer.

Glad Hyundai went with XM. It's superior to Sirius based in my opinion. (I'm not a Howard Stern fan anyways, he sucks ***) This will make a new Hyundai even more attractive to me when I'm ready to upgrade in another year or so. (Loaded Elantra or Sonata, will have to take some time before I decide)

with GM you get like 3 monthes free or something like that.... pay all that money for the XM option and they only give you 3 monthes what a rip.....
