so i dont know if ive ranted about the GM at my store before, but if i havent, heres some background info
ive been working @ this store for 20 months. for 20 months i have hated the GM. and its not just me. i would say at least 80% (no exaggeration) of the people who work there hate him. he is one of the rudest people i have ever met, and it seems like he almost goes out of his way to make your day ****ty
this past weekend, we had a manager from another store at ours to help out. i have worked at her store a few times when they were short handed, and she asked me if i would want to pick up some more shifts, because she had just gotten rid of one or two drivers. Jeremy (the GM i hate) heard us talking, and basically told her to quit trying to get me to go to her store. she said she was only looking for a few shifts from me.
i was thinking about what she was saying, and went to her store to ask if she needed a full-time person. she said she did, but jeremy had made it clear he would not let me transfer, and if i asked him about it and quit, to get hired at her store, there was a good chance he would put me on the "do not rehire" list, meaning she would not be allowed to hire me.
so i asked her who i could talk to, and i didnt want to talk to our district manager (just a level above all the GMs) because our DM and jeremy are all buddy-buddy...if a problem arises and someone goes to the home office, they both lie about whatever is going on, and this is how jeremy has kept his job so long
so i go and talk to the human resources guy. he asks me why i want to transfer and such, and i told him that i was tired of working with jeremy, his attitude, how he tries to make the day more ****ty, how not many people like him etc...he asked why i thought not many people liked him, and all i had to say was "look at the average stay of an employee"...its usually about 2 months. then we got to talking about the "do not rehire" list, and he tells me that he can override that, and jeremy is not the final say
so he tells me he is going to go in, have a chat with jeremy about his attitude and such, and let him know that i want to transfer to another store, so jeremy has some time to get a replacement for me and such, so its not like yanking me out of my store to go to another, and leave my store high and dry
so hopefully within the next 2 weeks or so ill be working at our easton store. i dont know how many people know about easton, but its like an outdoor version of mall of america. it is huge...most of their business comes at lunch...i worked there day after thanksgiving 2 years ago, and one business was tipping 20% on every order taken that day (like 5 orders throughout the day) and the orders were like 250$ each...thats right, a 50$ tip
also, the majority of the housing around this place are all very rich people. the apartments right next door to all the stores rent is something like 9-1100 a month. the few times i have worked there, i have made such good $
so i will be able to get away from jeremey and make some better $...i just hope nothing happens where i cant transfer
