It's called the Trajet, they sell them in Korea (and I guess in Europe too).

There's no way that is a live elephant.

Yeah that's gotta be a fake elephant. South Korea is not a third world country. If they can come up with all those DIY that Ilan posts on here, I'm sure they're smart enough to make a proper trailer to transport elephants or live animals. That thing isn't even enclosed! I would crack up if I was behind that on the freeway though.

Where's the DIY for the elephant cat-back system again? I heard the resonance is somewhat 'farty'... :D

They actually make 2 or three different models. Minivans, not elephants. If that was a picture of Korea though, That very well could have been a real elephant. :) Safety standards, common sense and animals rights are all foreign concepts here.

It looks a lot like the KIA minivan...

I hear Hyundai will be selling a minivan in the US somewhere around 2007-8.

The picture was taken here in Germany. The car van has a French plate on it though. The elephant is fake. There was an article in the paper a while back on this.

Just to clear things up 4 all..

Not to hijack the topic, but where can I get a rear window cover/wind deflector/whatever like the one in your sig? I like the way that looks, and I can't remember ever seeing one on an Elantra in these parts.

hyunelan2
03-28-2005, 01:57 PM
^^^ It's not an elantra part. It's from a Corolla, and needs to be modified to fit. I have one brand new, in-box if you're interested (end shameless plug)

how much bux? and how much modifying?

I know Hyundai owns Kia & they have a minivan here in the US, the Sedona. Wonder if they'll just change the exterior skin a little & slap a Hyundai emblem on it? I personally would never be caught dead in a minivan, even if I had a family to haul around but they are big sellers. Just ask Honda & Toyota. They command top dollar for their minivans. A new Odyssey you're lucky to get for $500 under sticker!

That's not South Korea.

Sorry my bad. I shouldn't assume next time.

I have been told the Kia Sedona IS a rebadged Hyundai.

SuperGLS
03-28-2005, 10:45 PM
The next Hyundai minivan (and the one that will be sold here) will most likely share the same platform as the new Sedona, not the current Sedona. Like mentioned, it'll most likely be based of the NF Sonata platform, not a bad thing at all.

I priced out an Odyssey and it was over $40,000 for the one I'd drive (and yeah, minivans own, my first car was a late 80's Caravan, so, I have love for minivans).

I would expect the new Hyundai minivan to be a lot less, while offering nearly the same amount of amenities. Expect a wide variation of prices between the base model and the top of the line, like most minivans.

The hyundai van is gonna be a lil different from the sedona. i asked my district manager and he said that even tho hyundai owns Kia they are trying to keep the 2 from being twins of each others models.

 How about "no" James. You are completely wrong. :stupid: I suggest you seek professional therapy immediately to overcome whatever it is that has made you have this unprecendented love for minivans.

Yeah, join the rest of society and pay twice as much for your minivan so you can call it an SUV and be in style.

**** the naysayers. Minivans are more comfortable, have more room, and get better gas mileage than any truck. I'm with you Super.

I'd rather have an SUV with 4wd capability than a mini-van but that's just me. Even better a large AWD car that would get even better gas mileage.

Atomic
03-29-2005, 03:12 PM
Well, I was considering the new Tucson to add to our Hyundai family, but now I might wait for the minivan. It's a toss up really, I want the Tucson AWD(?) for camping which will happen rarely. But the minivan seems to be more along the lines of what my family needs, plus I've driven/raced some minivans, and those suckers are fast. How about a turbo charged Hyundai Minivan, mwhahahaha, now that'd piss some people off around here. Decision made I think.

I would love to drive a turbo minivan like the one on the http://www.thedodgegarage.com website...if we could get a hyundai van to do that... I would be all in http://thedodgegarage.com/caravan/caravan_smoking.jpg

Ya... the old dodge caravans... supposedly you could get 25+ lbs of boost on the stock engines. If thats true, holy ****. I think it might be, because I watched a clip of a turbo van smoke a Z28 with an 8 sec 1/4. I want one now!

That's the same kinda Caravan I had. Too bad I was young and didn't have any idea they were turboable... oh wells, maybe some day I'll have a minivan again.

My parents had a 88 Ply Voyager with the 2.5 i4 turbo... it was pretty fun to drive for a minivan..... MUCH faster than the 87 we had before it with the 3.0 v6.....

Chrysler went on a turbo craze for a couple years in the late 80's... I think you could get a turbo on just about every model... even the new yorker...
