Thought I would throw this question out as I did a search but did not find the answer as yet.

Has anyone with 17" or 18" Rims & Tires had to use the doughnut spare due to a flat? Is it OK and safe to use the small spare with these sizes of rims and tires on the car?

Any thoughts on this

Thanks

As long as your 17" and 18" with the tire are within stock height then the spare should work properly.

I can tell you from experience that it its drivable. Not far and not fast, but it works. I got a bead leak on one of my tires 175 miles away from home. I knew I wouldn't be able to use the donut for that far. But it was good enough for me to drive the car to the nearest goodyear dealer, and have them seal the bead.

It'll probably work like hyunelan2 said.

What I'd suggest is keeping a full size spare (by that I mean an OEM 15") in the trunk rather than the regular spare. In order to fit the OEM 15" wheel all you have to do is remove or slightly modify that cushion thing that's in the spare tire hole.

I drove my doughtnut a second time 158 miles in one sitting at 65mph, potholes included.

Does this make me a lucky bastard?

Thank you all for the answers thus far and the idea from SuperGLS, I will play around this weekend and perhaps go with the option of keeping a stock wheel in the well.

mrhoaf....I damn near spit my coffee out of my mouth from laughing....lol

Thanks Again!

I'm suprised that you don't get a full size spare wheel/tire over there. Very disappointing!
