:help:!!! I have an opportunity to buy a 19 mm Rear sway bar, the fellow over on NT.com lives in the Chicago area and tried to ship me the rear sway bar. USPS told him the item is too large to ship to Canada. I asked him to try again because maybe he just got a "trainee" type person.

Has anyone managed to recieve a rear sway bar from the US? and what type of shipping was used?

Well, I am going to be shipping a Rear Sway Bar and Bushing and endlinks to 4MyNIkka through UPS, they gave me absolutely NO problems with the quote.

They were jerking him around or he was jerking you around, bro why would a package be too big to ship to canada? I mean, the package i am sending you is similar in size to that....

Don't trust that information or tell him to use DHL or Fedex

shawn :)

USPS might only ship a certain size internationally. Use one of the 'shipping services' and you should be fine. Most larger things I have received FROM canada have been UPS. UPS doesn't seem to take as long to clear customs either.

Yeah, regular "mail" services have limits on max weight and size, which ends up pretty small... it's true for both Canada Post and USPS.

The shipping companies like UPS, FedEx, DHL etc can handle these no problem... the thing I HATE about UPS shipping from US to Canada is their stupid $35 (I dunno if it's more now) brokerage fee (where the "postals" here only charge $5...) I've bought, say, $50 items from the US that have shipped here via UPS and the dang costs double after the brokerage fees and tax...  :( :(

YEP, YEP.

UPS SUCKS FOR OVER THE BORDER TRANSACTIONS.

Subs and enclosure: 2 friggin weeks at customs and 58$ Brokerage fee. (yea, I had bought the whole thing for 85$ :()

Go for DHL or Fedex. I personnally, will never accept anything from International UPS anymore.

Dude,

You have to get the item shipped as a GIFT!!! This way you don't get that stupid fee. That's what I hated too, anything over $15 usd UPS will charge you a brokerage fee and duties fee. Good Luck next time.

You have to get the item shipped as a GIFT!!!

Look at the customs form next time you get it in.

EVEN if you mark it as a gift, there is another box that asks for an est. value. they charge you depending on what you put in that box. (yaya, put a low value bla bla)... When I got my subs/encolsure we had put a low amount but considering the box weighed 52 lbs, they didnt beleive it and asked for another value from our side.

If you keep the claimed value below $65.00CDN and mark it as a gift. then the customs fees will be waived! I believe the amount is $65.00??. Call and ask. I have done this with items coming from the US to Canada and I know the sender declared a low value and it was no problem.

Without being at home to look at one of the waybills I can't confirm the amount to claim. But again..I think it's $65.00

Hope this helps.

Well, some of the things I bought were from real businesses who won't do that. Also, sometimes if you don't know who you're dealing with and want insurance, you need to mark the full value or you're SOL if it gets lost/broke. That's why I do the dangest not to get people to ship UPS to me cross border. Too hard on the wallet.

Try getting it marked as a "SAMPLE", but I've never had to pay duties on anything marked as a gift.

Thanks for the responses guys, I have PM'd him with what you guys said and I'll wait to see his response. He already said he would try USPS again but we may have to use another shipping carrier.
