I think this is a pretty good price here

($320 for a set of rims 17" MOTEGI SILVER MR7's)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43957&item=7967655541&rd=1

($200 for a set of 215/45/17 Hankook Low Pro Tires)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=66475&item=7968339324&rd=1

was wondering if anyone had cheaper prices? also tires probably gonna go with 215/45/17 just dont know what brand but they need to be pretty cheap to

That's a pretty good deal, but I don't think they fit. The auction says they're 5x114.3, and the Elantra uses 4x114.3.

Also, keep in mind that some wheels are much heavier than the stock wheels. The 17x7" Motegi MR7's are about 25 pounds each and the stock steel wheels are 19 pounds. The extra weight can hurt acceleration and braking a little, and the steering will feel heavier/more sluggish than it would with a lightweight wheel.

wheels are like women... no one will help you find the right ones, because once they find em', they take em' themselves!

Actually, I always forget the exact numbers but the alloy wheels are even lighter. They're closer to 16 pounds I think. So you'd notice a pretty substantial difference going to 25 pound wheels.

Check out www.wheelweights.net

You don't necessarily need to buy super lightweight forged wheels, but I just thought you should know that the Motegi MR7's are some of the heavier wheels out there.

And if you're in love with the look of the MR7s, there are A LOT of wheels out there that look a whole lot like them. They are a very common wheel style.

(on a brief side-note, I originally ordered gunmetal MR7s for my car, but got ripped off on EBay and they never showed).

look for 4*114.3, and watchout for the offset too!

anyhow, read this WHOLE webpage: http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbibles/index.html?menu.html&tyre_bible.html (thanks redgum)

This is true, my last set of wheels (Exel TZ-7's) look just like the MR7's and they weigh in at 22 pounds. They now belong to 04gtboyva. They're available at www.wheelmax.com. REV also sells lighter weight lookalikes (available at www.speedandstyle.com).

And I believe the original and highest quality version would be the Konig Tantrum's. I think they were around 18 pounds but they were discontinued.

So the REV wheels would be your lightest weight option I know of in this style that hasn't been discontinued. Unfortunately though, SpeedAndStyle is the owner of REV wheels, and they have a sketchy reputation kinda like WheelMax. I've also heard of some people having issues with bending their REV wheels since they're essentially standard cast wheels but they're made light and cheap -- a scary combination which a lot of times means they won't stand up to much abuse.

Stock Wheels 64 Pounds, hmmm those 88 Pounds! arg difference, 24 pounds...... worth it or not?

Okay, so I read the page and now know what an offset means, but what do you look for in a wheel for an Elantra? Is there a "sweet-spot" offset that works well? I don't know too much about that...

Correct me if im wrong but i do belieive XD comes with 42 offset for steel wheels (15x5.5), i believe it is the same for the GT type 15x6 and my Hyundai alloy (not GT) are 15x6.5 Offset 45. So depending on your wheel width... Hub rings can also compensate for lower offset and are required on some wheels. Also look out for the screw that is in the brake, some people here had to remove it in order to fit the wheel tightly.

Good luck!

I also like that style of rims and have been looking for a good deal. I found some that are the same style but a bit cheaper in price. They are MSR 113s. I found them for $599 with tires at wheelguyz.com (http://www.wheelguyz.com/shop/)(Look on the front page). I haven't called them to see what tires they come with...they probably aren't that great. And I'm sure they tack on some kind of extra fees...but at least shipping is free.

I also found them on ebay for $365 shipped with free tuner lugs, valves and center caps. Same brand...just without tires. ebay link. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7953789188&category=43957&sspagename=WD1V) The seller also sells tires so maybe you could hit him up for the right tires as well and get a deal.

I would be contacting these people myself but the tires I have now still have some good tread...and the wife still hasn't given the green light yet. But a little more convincing on my part and it'll be fine.

Also the ebay post says that these rims are 22lbs. Hope this info helps. And if you do contact any of these guys please let me know what happens. Thanks!
