Well, no SoCal people took my invitation to come to my buddy's new performance shop and get a cheap dyno on his introductory day. I've decided to switch from platinum plugs to coppers and index the plugs as well so I'll do a before and after dyno. I'll also get a chance to see what my XD is making with the current mods (CAI, Ported IM, Ported TB, Phenolic Spacer. I'll post the graphs tonight along with some pics of some of the other cars in the "Other Cars" section.

Ok, I'm about to post the dyno sheet. The first number was terrible (about 104), but after I pulled the plugs I noticed I had rust on one of them (previous owner probably tried to steam clean and some water got in there). Once the plugs were replaced I ran it again and got a 110, but I'm sure that the bad plug screwed up the fuel maps pretty bad cause the air/fuel was all over the place. Resetting the ECU and then doing a warm run got me up to 119 which is still pretty crappy but I'm sure that with no header the added air from the ported IM, CAI and ported TB aren't really doing me much good (and it's an automatic).
Ford, Odessit, any others in the know - can you take a look at my dyno curves and tell me what you think the problem might be as well as how to improve it? I want my Hyundai to not be so pathetic. LOL
Oh, but on the upside, the elantra sounded GREAT on the dyno. I actually think it sounded better than my V8 benz lol. Now I just need to get it to go as fast as it sounds.
Also of note, I dynoed my other car (engine is stock) and got 235 at the wheels. That's a nice baseline before the s/c.
And....there was a supercharged Porsche that got 370 at the wheels running so rich that it wasn't even on the a/f meter and spewing clouds of black smoke (he neeeeeds software)
And...a new V12 twin turbo CL65 putting out 550 at the wheels. It was losing traction on the dyno! I'll have the videos for those edited and posted at www.hopracing.com in a couple of weeks

Still can't find the dyno sheet, but your biggest problem is your transmission. Baseline power should be around 110 or less, you are pulling 119, it's definitely not bad for auto man.

I must have missed the previous thread about the dyno deal. Darn.

here is his dyno:

I think the problem here could be related to the exhaust system, I think you should upgrade to 4-2-1 headers + cat-back with a chambered muffler...
that should get you another 5 whp or so :)
also, your dyno is in STD ... that means that if you correct it to SAE #'s, its gonna be less than 110 @ the wheels...

I just used one of those SAE calculators and with the measurements it says the correction factor is 0.982 - that sound about right given the measurements listed? The shop is right at the beach so it's just about sea level. This would put me at 116.8 at the wheels.
So what I'm hearing is that my power isn't too far off from what it should be given that my tranny is an auto?
Would an aftermarket torque converter help across the board? Or only on launch?

i would not buy an upgrade torque converter. you dont have enough power to benefit from it ...
however... your power numbers are awesome for an auto with your mods :)
now get an exhaust system in there, and don't go crazy with an over-sized pipe... you want to keep the velocity high but with a bit less restriction than the stock muffler / pipes... :P

I have an auto and I'm getting 112 whp with a reset ecu on a stock engine with a sri. In a few months, I'm going to have Ford port a intake for me.

Those are pretty nice numbers Josh. Gives all the auto guys some hope I suppose.
Glad you had fun, I would have come if I didn't live 3000 miles away.
