Need some creative help and ideas.

As I have looked into what it takes to truly clean the fuel injectors on our cars, I have discovered that anything short of pulling and cleaning them doesn't work so well. If you use a tank additive it is too weak, and even if you use a vacuum source to suck up some cleaner, you are only going through the air channels and not directly through the injector. I have another car that has an access port on the fuel rail. I can use BG44k fuel injector cleaner and it works super great. I have a friend that has their tool that provides pressure behind the cleaner so you can run the car on it and it really cleans. You pull the fuse to the fuel pump and it runs on the cleaner. He uses shop air for pressure.

I was looking at the fuel rail on my 01 'lantra. At the end of it is the pulse dampener. It is a 3/8 thread that it is easy to adapt to. If we could come up with a container that could be fitted to this, with an air fitting to attach to, we in essence could do what they charge over $100 to do, without spending the $300 that the tool costs.

Here is the problem. Any container is going to need to be airtight, and where you install the fittings must also be sealed. You could use a compression fitting and a short length of copper tubing for the pickup in the container , then use a short hose to connect to the fuel rail. I can also see using the male end of an air chuck fitting.

Here's the question. What would act as a good pressure container that would hold roughly a pint of cleaner, be able to be pressuized to fuel injector pressure, be able to easily put in a pipe fitting, and to be cheap?

I have experimented with an empty quart paint can for Home Depot, but it is hard to keep the lid on. I used a C Clamp but it still popped. I would be concerned about using anything glass. I thought about one of the really thick plastic sprayers for yard care but the are all so big, at least a gallon size.

I know this group is great on ideas, so let 'er rip!

Think creatively and who knows, we might develop something that would really be beneficial.

just get some pipe fittings from mcmaster.com

4" pipe ought to hold the volume you need.

That's a great idea! I knew I was making it too complicated. I owe you a brewski
