Okay I installed the CAI yesterday and after a bad initial reaction the intake is great. Power is there and it's LOUD!!!!!!, really LOUD. Today I received the bypass valve I ordered from ebay... it fits the pipe but there is no room to put it. The fuse box and the battery is in the way.. ANy suggestions??
Please help.

Cut my friend ;)
on the long tube that goes from the IM to behind the battery... cut out an area halfway.

Where the pipe goes through the body to behind the bumper. How about there just cut the pipe about 3 inches above the air cleaner.

I have a really weird thought here. Bypass valve is to be used in case water gets sucked up there into the engine right? Can we not drill some small holes in the pipe close to the engine to help any water that might get sucked up drain out and not have to worry about putting in a bypass? I mean if only 1% of air loss through the holes (I never fully calculated that and it would be minimal I would think) will exist with these drilled holes, wouldn't the CAI perform the same?......I dunno, just a thought that occurred.

probably won't work....the water would travel too fast through the pipe to drain through those holes. the bypass valve has a shutter that would stop the flow of air/water mix from the valve down and start sucking in the air from behind the valve. at least that's my understanding of the contraption.

You wouldn't lose air, you would gain hot, unfiltered air. You would suck up dirt, and the hot air would totally void the cold air effect...

The outside of the valve is dense foam, then when you look inside there's a different colored thicker foam and a STRONG spring that forms to the inside and I'm sure some other mechanisms I didn't see. There is no flap or valve or anything to get into the way of air flow. The valve did quiet down the CAI growl and I'm sure it is leaking a small amount of hot air into the mix, but I'm not worried about those "Flash Floods" we get around here anymore.
how is it loud when you have exhaust already? =P this the ebay one? next thing im getting is tints then CAI then exhaust

The intake is the EvoFusion one from the group buy..... And it's a cat back exhaust custom made..... IT's very loud, specifically @ full throttle. how loud, I could here my car yesterday when my buddy pulled away about 2-3 streets over from where I was. :)

Looks good. Nice to know your car is safe from hydrolocking now huh?

Just to make sure everyone knows unless the entire bit of tube is completely submerged the valve will not open. So if you hit a nice splash of water and just enough gets in but doesn’t seal the entire way around the tube the valve will never open. It's all pressure controlled. I used to have a video were someone did a test with it using a shop vac kind of scary the amount of water you needed to draw up the tube to get it to pop open. I don’t think a shop vac pulls as much air as a car but still.

Unless you completly submerge the pipe in water I dont see it sucking enough water into the engine to cause hydrolock. Ive never heard of a hydro lock because someone splashed a little water onto there filter. Saying things like that could make someone not spend 50 dollars now and end up with a grand or more bill when they dont see a deep pot hole and drive into it. Id say its worth it if it only works 50% of the time (Note: Not saying that it does only work 50% of the time just making an example). Its not that expensive and it doesn't take a engineer to install. 50 bux is worth my peice of mind. When I get back from Iraq Ill be switching to a CAI and adding a bypass valve to it.

Well being that I've lost an engine to hydrolocking a couple of years back, I don't think it has to be completely submerged. As a matter of fact, my car has shut down on me without hitting flooded areas. I ended up with some water mixed with my oil about a month ago as a matter of fact. So just be careful..

... you car shuts down at random when you get near water? Also how did you get water in the oil?

ya but doesn't leak some air or suck up some air from the bypass valve?
