one of my associates (friend type) just bought a new car (300 miles on it new)....a hyundai tiburon nonetheless.
he previously drove an old POS ford ranger, so I can understand the excitement and all.
the guy is 23...you'd think he'd be smart about what he does.
so...he takes me for a test ride...cool. I've heard he isnt the best at driving stick on this car, but how bad can it be...
well honestly his stick driving wasnt too bad.
but he did acceletate quite rapidly to 110mph, right before taking a curve rather unsafely at around 90mph no crashes or anything. I was very uncomfortable during this experience of course...but I kept cool.
then he tells me about this "problem" when he takes U-turns fast.
he puts it into first gear, accelerates hard, I can feel the clutch slipping, he puts it into second...clutch continues to slip until oh...I dont know, 70mph maybe?
and its not like he was backing off either while he felt the clutch slipping.
when the car was parked, there was a nice aroma of burning clutch as I stepped out.
I had to ask him if he knew that you were supposed to break in things like the clutch...and the ENGINE.
he said that it doesnt matter, its just bs.
I made it pretty clear to him that it OBVIOUSLY does matter, because he dogged the clutch early on and now it doesnt grab for ****.
I've drag races my car numerous times, but that man has dealt more abuse to that vehicle (in terms of actual component wear) than I have to mine in the past 2 years.
I mentioned that piston rings also need to be broken in so that they can seal properly...he told me "thats what the warranty is for"
im pretty ****ing sure that if you threw a piston ring into a pile of paperclips bent in circular fashion, he wouldnt be able to tell you which one was the ring.
some people's ignorance really ****ing baffles me...couple the fact that they're ignorant with the fact that they're too stupid to acknowledge when they're wrong and you've got a pretty mean combo.
I hope that when his clutch goes out (should be within the next month) that the hyundai dealer DOESNT cover it, and they *** RAPE him with the replacement of the clutch and his ****ing dual mass flywheel (that he's also too stupid to know about).
I normally wouldnt rant about this, but it pure ****ing lunacy that someone so stupid and CLEARLY wrong would try to argue.
this guy used to have a pretty level head...here's the problem...he got a girlfriend who likes him (up with the self esteem, even though she's pudgy and deaf) and he got a shiny new car...all of this has melted his brain apparently.
this is all too familiar. I had another friend type associate that got a new car, dogged it, etc. and of course it had problems.
I think it ended up being totaled out by his insurance company (within a very short amount of time).
anywho, lets hope this guy ****s up his **** and the dealer wont fix it for him.
maybe he'll call me to help him with it...and I'll give him a cool price of $35/hr for labor.
