I posted this in newtiburon - but looking for feedback here too. - Looking for a good all season tire for my newtiburon GT 6 speed. I need a good all season tire, including some snow. Any feedback on Falken 512 or Hankook K106 ?

the michelins you have on there should be more than good enough.

4mynikka - The Pilots are not very good in wet - I think they will be really bad in snow. These are 215/45/17's.

WHich pilots do you have??? THose are suppose to be performance tires and those are suppose to be great it the wet. Now depending on the composition and type of pilots you have they should be either good on snow or really ****ty. But regardless of type they should be good in the rain. :)

no 4 season will be good in the snow. If you can afford it, you will get more performance out of winter/summer combo. There are some 4 season ultra high performance out there:
Toyo Proxes 4 (great on wet/dry not sure about snow since i use toyo go2+ for snow)
Kumho ASX
Continental contiextreme (supposedly decent in snow)
Falken 512

redgum,
Agreed contiextreme would be good all season - but kind of pricey - $100 per tire. I got more info about the k106 - not an all season. Edgeracing suggested Hankook 405. Of course the falken 512 is one I'm also looking into.

the hankooks are probably much more expensive then the falken. Go with the falken and at that price if they feel unsafe next winter you can always go with cheapo winter tires at that time.
What price did you find for the falken?>
86$

Redgum - I'll have to double check - but I think I can get either Falken 512 or Hnakook's for about $70 per tire plus shipping from edgeracing.

Stock tibby tires in snow are ugly.
I drove my tiburon through a couple of snow storms, and let me tell you...
Fish-tailing everywhere.
And on a couple of hills ABS kicked in but the back slid out front and i went down the hill sideways.
Stock Pilots in snow = death!

I can't speak for the other tires, but I'm very happy with my Falken 512's. They're great in wet weather!!!

Thanks guys. Yeah, I just think the stock Pilots will be ugly in snow - I'm leaning toward Ziex 512.

Woody-
This comes from someone who has owned the 512's and the Kuhmo ASX.
In the snow, the ASX will wipe the Falken all over the place. We got a quick 4-5 inches of lake effect snow in Feb and I was super impressed with the ASX. I don't really think the 512's are good in the snow at all.
For every other "performance" aspect, the Falken is better, as the ASX is kinda squishy for my taste. But, I run them all year long!

Guys,
The comments on Falkens were so inconsistent between 2 forums, I'm trusting tirerack surveys, and going with 4 215/45WR-17 Sumitomo HTR+. Let you know how they work.

I think the bad comments from the Falken are mostly coming form people who got the 60/65 series 512 and not the the 55 or lower. If I remember correctly people were complaining about soft sidewall... Make sure they are V (or more) rated and the sidewall should be stiff enough to enjoy hard cornering.
