I put my Evofusion CAI on my 04 Elantra and everything looks real nice. I have the sensor in place and all the tubing fit real nice to (with a little modification for the sensor. But the filter generates a humming noise, kind of like a low tone engine fan. I tried searching for others out there with a humming noise with thier CAI install, but could not see any in the forums.
Have any of you had this problem?
If so what to do to correct it?
Should I worry about this humming noise?
I have installed intakes on other Hyundai vehicels and have never had this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Jason
Ps: This weekend I will take some pictures of the installed product. I need a to pick up a couple rubbers pieces an clamps to make it look nicer.

There should be a air sucking sound when you hit the gas.

It's always hard to describe sound effects on a message board, but I think what you are describing is normal. It should be especially loud during cold starts. It's a kind of humming or low whistling sound that's amplified by the CAI piping. Everybody who has installed a CAI on this car hears the same thing. It sounds different and is less audible with a short ram intake.

I have the same sound... Sounds like a UFO hovering in one of those old Sci Fi movies huh? That sound comes from the air rushing through the intake tubes. Nothing to be concerned about (unless yours is really loud).
Did you notice the fuel mileage increase? The extra power? Along with the shortshifter, it's my favorite mod... I'm getting the Tib Swaybar soon... We'll see how that goes.
Have fun...

Thanks guys. I thought it would be normal but wanted to double check. And yes it sounds like a UFO>>>LOL
I will make a new post with pick and what I think about it. Just put it on today and only drove it a mile or so to make sure every thing was good to go.
Thanks again for all the replies! This site is number one for member feedback!

I just got my CAI in yesterday and I have the EXACT same sound. Really annoying (because before you couldn't even tell the car was running), but such is life I guess.

power = noise... unless you can afford a ferrari... or a lambo... or a gt4 ...

There are ways of gaining power and maintaining noise levels... but it requires more custom work since there aren't any intakes available with that goal in mind.
One way to do it is with a cone filter inside an airbox, and a tube feeding the airbox with cool air from the fender well. It would be somewhat similar to the stock configuration except there will be less crap restricting airflow, and the inlet will be bringing in actual cool air like a CAI would. Jmontigny created a setup like this a long time ago with a wooden airbox.

power = noise...
Some one should tell those Honda guys that it doesn't work the other way around.

Make sure it isn't touching something else in a way that it creates a buzz or humm due to the vibration.

As far as I know, all of the available CAI's have to be modified to accomodate the MAF sensor.

THis is correct. On the first bend that attaches to the t.b. I had to cut in 1/2 and install the sensor there. Should have pics in my profile next week...hopefully!

It is not 3" pipe but oh well, it does have a nice finish to the piping. All in All, I like the CAI they made, just wish that I did not have to cut the pipe in 1/2 and buy to more red silicon reducers to have that professional look. So if you buy the evofusion intake keep this in mind...

Just get an accord intake on ebay and modify it... SO much cheaper and same effect. Here's a link to my pictures.

which ever... I just wanted the tubing to be painted already, I spent extra to be lazy. I didn't want another chrome intake, the hyper black looks real nice and the red silicon reducers under the hood.
Good luck with your desicions (sp).
