View Full Version : Paint...sucks....ARGH!!

Ok, I'm fed up with this already.
I haven't had the car for 6 months, there's less than 9000 miles on it and already I count over 20 RUST SPOTS on my hood alone due to the PAINT CHIPPING ARGH!

When I go to get the airbag recall done I'm gonna fight with them for a new paint job.
I mean the bottom side of the rear deck isnt even painted!!!

What are the chances I can get the dealership to warrenty me a new paint job?
And if they don't, how can I go about calling corporate and getting them to get the dealership to do it?

uh join the mother ****ing club, i have a place on my hood clearcoat is off, place where i got 3 rock chips today (or so i think today?, it looks weak though - not keying had 10 people look at it) that took big chunks of paint off.. this **** is ****ing weak and sucks... also have a place on my door where the paints gone to the bare metal (RUSTING).. gotta get it repainted.. GAY

?? Saturns are all plastic... I can't think of a panel on ours that is plastic beside maybe the bumpers... someone help me out here...

cody go outside and tap on the hood, tap on the doors go below the molding on your GLS and tap.. yea thats metal buddy :D then go to the front/rear bumper knock on those.. plastic.. thats the extent of it..

Yesterday while putting my tire back on, I chipped the paint with my finger nail and my nail barely touched the car and I bite my nails so there was barely any nail to chip anythng. It's weak-*** paint. Buy touch-up paint and keep it handy.

welcome to hyundai 1 stage paint...
thats what happens when the clear coat is part of the paint.

nothing you can do about it, good luck getting them to warranty it. You will most likely have to call Hyundai Corporate and make a big stink for them to do anything

alright sed hold up i brought my car to have the right quater panel recoated in clearcoat all he did was sand the old off and put the new on.... what do u mean its mixed in? should I have them redo my whole car will that make it stronger? it was like $40 todo that (pretty cheap) and they are recoating half my car (back part) where I was rearended..

btw hook me up with a rally red paint pen :bowdown:

He means the clearcoat is part of the paint, it's not a separate clearcoat...

ah i c, would it still be better if i had a whole clearcoat put on my car? :D

its stage 1 paint, meaning there is not seperate clear coat added to the car. The paint and clear coat is sprayed on @ the same time.

If you had the whole car cleared, it would definitely make the paint last much longer, but it would look wierd. Really thick and glossy.

Funny, I recleared my car right after I bought it and there was 1 coat of clear on it. I put 10 coats of clear then polished it out, ending up with about 5-6 coats of clear.

As I was sanding the factory clear, it came off as clear, then the color was showing up very soon after.

thats what im wonderin. i have no rust spots, or even dings in my car. not even on the front. paint is **** though, i plan on goin to a paint place around here sometime in the next few years and getting a gunmetal paint job.
