Was driving north on a two lane road @ 35 - 40 mph.

Biiiig F150 in front of me, mid 90's grand marquis in the right lane decides to make a U-TURN from the RIGHT LANE into the southbound side of the road. Big truck brake checks me, I slam on my brakes, slam into the big truck. Hit @ 30 mph or so, no air bags deployed.

There was ABSOLUTLEY NO damage done to the truck, the g.m. stopped, but TOOK off when she saw me hit the truck. The guy got out, saw there was no damage and left. Leaving me in my really bad back pain and a wrecked XD.

So, I called the wife, told her what happened. Limped the car home (This happened maybe 2.3 miles away from my house).

Called my job, told them what happened and they told me to come in, an hour later I was driving home in my brand new rally red 5 spd 05 gls. I'll post pics tomorrow of the crashed silver xd and the new xd2

I'm ok really I think, my back hurts like a ***** and I hate the fact that I just paid 900 bucks to "fix" the XD, but live and learn right?

Owch... back problems can be a bummer. If you can get physical therapy, try accupuncture too (alongside it), It works.

I still have a gimped back, but it's more due to laziness (lack of exercise) than anything else.

Have a speedy recovery... have fun with the new XD too!

The car was totalled by me, not the insurance company. I didn't even report it to them, just took the XD off and put on the XD2. I know how much parts alone would be to fix the XD, not worth it.

Sorry to hear about the accident, Shawn. Make sure you get your back looked at. Don't push it off, cause it can get worse if you wait with the treatment.

At least you got a new car. I know you've spent a lot of time on your old one, so I'm sure that's a bummer. Glad you stuck with an Elantra though. Question, will you still be persuing your Turbo project with this XD2? What other kinds of mods are you planning on? Or is it too early to ask?

And yeah, I did the math. Its about 1500 in parts, plus another 2k in labor. I am NOT paying 3500 bucks for this car. Not to mention the 1200 I JUST put into it. No way in hell...

Sounds similar to the 04 Tib GT I stripped after it came in the shop to be fixed. The guy twisted the front subframe by autocrossing it (car was not fixed right after it was hit HARD). I totalled it. Bought it for parts.

Yep, the lumbar area is the most tricky and pain can last a long time. After I had my spine corrected for scoliosis (curvature in the spine), I had a severe staph infection in my 5th lumbar area (around the belt location). After that, I can no longer lift heavy objects even chest high.
