Go see it. Now.
It's the best one of all 6.
It's 2 hours and 30 minutes long and it's worth every minute. Every question you have about the SW universe, is answered in this film, give or take
I'm so glad, I can die happy now

I'm looking forward to it!!! Only 4 hours to go, providing my speed of 65kb/s holds up. :)
I just liked number 1, didn't like number 2, so hopefully this one ends the trend!
I've heard great reviews so I'm glad that everybody is happy with it!

I though it kinda sucked too. In my opinion it's definitely the worst of the 6 and I would call myself a fan of the series. Not psycho, just a fan. It's still worth watching. In case anyone did want to download it you can download tesla or filetopia and go into the fbo (free box office) room. They'll have all the new movies. Haven't been there in a while but when I was in the dorms and had a t1 connection they would upload movies directly to me.

I saw it today for free. I played hooky from work. We were originally going to catch the 9:30 am showing but it was all sold out. But KIIS FM bought all the tickets for 11:45 am and gave them away. Not too many people were aware of this promotion since it was morning so they were giving away as many tickets as you wanted.
Personally I thought it was the best of all the Star Wars episodes. The thing I like about the storyline is that it showcases Anakin's struggle between good and evil and the reason why he chose to go to the dark side. Also, Hayden Christiansen wasn't as gay and annoying in this one as he was in the last one.

It's not coming out here until the 26th. It was available for download last night, but I can wait. I don't need to dress up like a super dork because I already look like Mace Windu. Well, only white, with glasses, without a robe or light saber, but I will be the token minority. Well I guess I don't look like him, but more like him than Yoda. :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just got back from lunch, and on the way back we passed by the AMC movie theatre at Lennox. As usual, Star Wars nerds are already lining up in front of the theatre so they can be the first to be adored on their I-wish-I-was-a-Vulcan (or insert Klingon, Willow, Harry Potter, Elijah Wood, etc) message forums. We decided to round the shopping center to gawk at all of these gems of humanity as they wait for the best three hours of their lives. It was pretty funny, there are about 20 out there now, most dressed in Star Wars t-shirts, and a couple in full name-your-Star-Wars-character-here costume.
Here is where it takes a turn for the worse, and I am presented with what I feel has been the biggest problem I have ever had to face...
We rounded the corner to turn onto the access road behind the shopping center, when what do we see in the grassy area next to the theatre? 8 people, dressed head to toe in their favorite character costume, in a circle, having a physical battle with fun-noodles (those long colorful foam pool toys). One of them even had a foam wake board, spray painted gold to look like a shield. These people had their faces painted to be in character, making their own sound effects, hitting each other with pink, bright green, purple, and blue fun-noodles. Just going at it like they were on any other planet but this one, where they were doing the silliest, most pseudo-homosexual, and downright funniest thing I have ever witnessed. Ever.
Now, here is my problem. As I said, I believe this was the funniest thing I have ever seen. It was so funny that I couldn’t even laugh. I just kind of flopped in the car seat like a fish out of water gasping for oxygen. Tears came to my eyes, but I just could not eek out a laugh. I thought I might have a stroke – a humor stroke.
To quote Cartman, I think I have blown a funny fuse. Now I don’t know what to do.
--------------------
Four seconds from now everything is going to look a little bit different...

I did done saw it on an IMAX screen. I give it 3-1/2 smilies :D:D:D:rolleyes:
Good things: MUCH better than I, II, and VI. On par with IV, but Empire is still the best. Great story. Very little pointless/BS dialogue. The relationship between the Chancellor and Anakin makes sense. Anakin isn't whiney. BIG fight scenes. 'Fitted' perfectly for IV.
Bad things: Grievous is a lame duck. Jar-Jar doesn't die. "NooooOOOOOoooooOOOOOoooo!" = cliche out the butt. Makes you realize that there was NO REAL NEED for I and II, or at least those movies could have been edited together to make one GOOD two-hour flick. Not enough of the half-nekkid tentacle-headed ladies.
I'm pleased with the movie and I'll be buying it, but I'm also angry that it took turkey-neck Lucas 25 years to make another kick-*** Star Wars movie. Now if he would only DIE so they can make Shadows of the Empire...

another scene from Episode III:
[light saber duel]
Obi-Wan: You've lost Anakin, I have the high ground!
Anakin: grrr...
Obi-Wan: Don't do it!
[Anakin jumps and Obi-Wan goes into cuisinart mode, lopping off Darth Dumbass's appendages]
Obi-Wan: You idiot! You were the chosen one!
Anakin: Oh, had enough, eh?
Obi-Wan: Look, you stupid bastard. You've got no legs left.
Anakin: It's just a flesh wound!
[crawls towards him]
Obi-Wan: Look, stop that.
Anakin: I'm invincible!
Obi-Wan: You're a looney.
Anakin: Oh. Oh, I see. Running away, eh? You yellow bastard! Come back here and take what's coming to you. I'll bite your kneecaps off!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
(last one I promise)
Anakin: Master Windu! I have to tell you something!
Mace: Spit it out, Panda-wan...
Anakin: The Chancellor is really Darth Sidious!
Mace: um...yeah...
Anakin: I'm telling you the truth! He's the bad guy!
Mace: Look, Darth Sidious wears his hood over his head, Palpatine doesn't. End of discussion.
Anakin: But...

jar jar has a small speaking role in 2, and no speaking part in 3. in 3 he basically mourns silently. (thank god). i love the fight between general grevious and ob1, it should have been longer though.

One of my favorite parts of Episode II is where Jar Jar maks the motion that basically paves the way for Palpatine to become emperor.......
So...... when people ask how the emperor siezed power of The Republic... they can say it's all Jar Jar's fault!!!!

I thought it was a good closure to the films. I would have to agree that Hayden Christiansen had some better acting near the end of the film rather than the beginning. It seemed kind of soapy to me.

Hayden Christiansen is one of the worst actors I've seen in a movie that wasn't a porno. I watched episodes 1&2 last week to refresh my memory for #3 being released over here. Everytime that fool opened his mouth, it was painful to watch. Jar-Jar is more enjoyable to watch onscreen, and that's saying something. I was under the impression Hayden was the producer's idiot son, because there is NO way he got into that movie on merit. He's just plain bad. Now, I'll admit the dialogue George is feeding him is craptacular at best, but come on. Natalie Portman can make it work, why can't he. I know for a fact that if Lucas had cast Mcauley Culkin instead of Christiansen, those scenes would have worked way better. Watching Jar-Jar slip and fall on a bunch of marbles wouldn't be bad either. :)

So I finally saw it today.
The fighting scenes were really good in this one. I agree that the Grevious VS Obi fight was the most exciting, although the two fighting scenes at the end were pretty cool too. The last hour of the movie was non-stop goodness I thought.
I never thought any of the Star Wars were the greatest movies of all time, but I find them pretty good entertainment, all of them.
They certainly patched up Mr. Vader pretty quick.

Hayden Christiansen is quitting acting and going into architecture.

As a movie, I thought it was very good. The action scenes were the best of all 6 episodes, and that is enough to make a fan like myself buy the movie. However, George Lucas once again tried to cram an assload of information into a 2 hour film.
For those who haven't seen it yet...SPOILERS ahead:
First off, if you go back and watch the first few scenes from Episode IV (four, as in the original) between Luke and Obi-Wan, you will learn that Obi-Wan had a much more "father-son" type relationship with anikin. Obi-Wan clearly says when he gives Luke the light saber, "your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough". Thid would HAVE to mean that anikin WITNESSED the birth if his children, which was not the case in episode III.
Second, toward the end of VI when Luke and Leia are talking, Leia informs Luke that she "remembers her mother only faintly, as she died when I was very young". This would HAVE to mean that their mother (Padme) DID NOT die in childbirth...
Lastly, I have owned the DVD versions of the original trilogy since they came out. If you watch the very last scene of Return of the Jedi, you'll notice that Lucas put Hayden Christiansen in place of David Prowse when they overlook Luke as he celebrates with Leia. This was kinda funny, as for those of you who own the vhs copy (even the 97 remastered ones) it was david prowse.

second: leia didn't know she was a princess, therefore her foster mother died when she was very young.

She didn't know she was a princess???? Then why did everyone call her PRINCESS LEIA?
Mr. Dan
05-31-2005, 10:48 AM
WASN'T a princess. She was adopted and her adopted mother died when she was young.
And yes, Obi Wan was lying to Luke. Only thing that surprised me when I watched it was that he didn't seem to recognize the droids. Not to mention that C3P0 and R2D2 were like 40 years old and still hadn't been scrapped. I guess they were the pinnacle of droid technology. :)
Keyan
05-31-2005, 11:36 AM
well, obi didn't know C3P0's memory was erased. So maybe in episode4, he was afraid to say that he knew 3P0 just incase 3P0 suddenly remembered everything and luke learns stuff he should be learning yet. I dunno.
