crazyGJ 05-21-2005, 02:01 PM you just can't stay away from power huh... :D
FordFasteRR 05-21-2005, 02:17 PM I think the copper colored car is a Maxima ...
the blue one is an Altima... they share the same chassis + tons of other parts including the v6 engine... lol
however, apart from the 300z, the Maxima and the Altima are both Front Wheel Drive...
:)

Agree the copper is a Maxima But I hate the tails on the altima
SuperGLS 05-21-2005, 03:39 PM He got a 3.5l new for 14K? I can't believe that, they start at 23K. I can see, 20K, even 18K, but not 14K. I'm guessing he had to get one used?
Overall I like them, seem to be nice inside and out. Gas mileage is a little less than the Elantra at 21/27 MPG.
I've never looked but I'm sure there is a bit of aftermarket stuff for it.
f1guy68 05-21-2005, 05:36 PM ilanpro,
My Dad drives the same car as your friend. It's got everything you need and plenty of power.
Not too many times my Dad will back off from giving some punk in a tuner car a good and proper *** kicking.....lol
Go Old Man..Go Old Man..Go Old Man.....In the Nissan..In The Nissan...In The Nissan
(That's what my brothers and I sing when he tells us about a car he blew away...lol)
slvrsleeper 05-21-2005, 05:42 PM Get the SE-R version Ilan, its more money but has even more *** and a six-speed tranny! You can't beat the combo of fast and useful with the Altima though... And better yet people will never say "Its still a Neon!"

Ugly color
felixr 05-22-2005, 10:31 AM isnt the maxima the faster/more powerful car or is it the other way around?
mrhoaf 05-22-2005, 09:11 PM maxima is faster, more powerfull, more expensive....
SuperGLS 05-22-2005, 09:42 PM Well, the 3.5l engine comes in both cars. I think it might have 5 or 10 more HP in the Maxima. Nissan whores that 3.5l out, it's in at least 6 cars (Altima, Quest, Maxima, G35, G35 Coupe, 350Z, etc). It makes from 250-265 HP if I remember correctly. I'd think the Maxima is heavier too.
jeffv1970 05-22-2005, 09:50 PM INsurance is a ***** on those cars so check them out first.
mrhoaf 05-22-2005, 10:20 PM ok... I went to Nissan's website to sort this out.....
for '05....
Maxima - 265
Altima SE and SL - 250
Altima SE-R - 260
hmmm... I thought it was a bigger difference.....

I'm 36 clean Record and married with 2 kids, I dont worry about insurance :D
02xdGLS 05-22-2005, 11:50 PM i never liked any altimas.
i always hear good things about them though; lotta power, 4 door with roomy interior and so on. But all the altima owners i know are cocky SOB. that's probably why i dislike the car. o and the taillights don't help either.
anyways, i'd suggest you go with 3.5 new gen maximas if you can get a good deal on a used or even new one.
ilanpro 05-22-2005, 11:55 PM I dont like the rear on the new Maximas
evan938 05-23-2005, 12:08 AM friend of mine had a 05 maxima for a rental a couple weeks ago. that thing hauled some *** for being so friggin heavy
02xdGLS 05-23-2005, 02:21 AM each to his own i guess.
you might as well save up some big money and get something REAL nice(z, g35, s2000, evo, sti or whatever else that tickles your balls) and be done with it. not like you don't like the xd and have to get rid of it asap. that's just my .02
that way we get to have you stick around more in the xd community. :D
kylemorg 05-23-2005, 08:07 AM I really like the look of the newer altimas (the current chassis with the bigger tail lights). I didn't like the old one with the trunk that sloped down towards the bumper. I'm also a fan of the horsepower of that car, that's one of the cars I was looking at for a combination of horsepower / price. It's only slightly more expensive than the Dodge SRT-4, and as Slvrsleeper said, it's not just a suped-up Neon!
There isn't that much aftermarket for the Altima's.
CAI, Headers, Cat-Back, Springs and Alteezas was all i could find with a quick search
shawn :)
jeffv1970 05-23-2005, 08:48 AM Ilan,
It is not just about you. It is also the vehicle rating (symbol) and the altima carries a high one. So most companies charge a arm and a leg. Granted it is one well of a nice car. Good luck on whatever you decide.
