View Full Version : took a turn to fast, hit a bump
Now I need to turn the wheel to the left .5-1 inch to go straight and the steering wheel cover in the car is alittle sideways... what do you guys think?
just a small dip really but i took the turn at 20-30.. .. hasnt been a smart day for me
sounds like you threw off your alignment.. so thats what u gotta get done bro. maybe you didnt throw it off.. what do i know.. wait for others to respond too
also right after it happend I'd turn the wheel right and you'd hear and click going from the center 3-4 inches.. then it went away after 5-6... I rode home on 84 (60-70 MPH) and nothing fell off thank god bringing it in tomorrow to have them look @ it

Could be worse... I was run off the road into a concrete construction barrier (jersey wall, for us folks from the Northeast)...
http://home.comcast.net/~randomadam/shredded.jpg
I replaced that wheel and my alignment is somehow still fine, but I get a low thrumming noise coming from the back; maybe the bearings are in bad shape or I scuffed the tire too hard or something. An alignment should do the trick for you, though. Probably around sixty bucks or so. Make sure to take it for a quick spin afterwards - I had an alignment done once and it didn't do jack, so I took it back and complained. They did it right the second time.

questions, didnt you hydrolock your engine? and weren't you using a friends santa fe? or was that not you?
more questions, if you heard some clicking it sounds like you damaged some steering component. is it like a rack and pinion type clicking? also, how old are you again? just curious
nevermind, that was "GosisintheTV" sorry, for some reason I thought it was you. so in which case, forget the first few questions-obviously, and forget the age question

funny, i always thought they were called "K" barriers... ??? isn't it great that they're designed the way they taper out @ the bottom? you destroyed your rim but the rest of the car was left unscathed... good deal!

Southpaw...I think that the K barriers may be what they use on those zipper lanes in Boston. The lanes that are, or were (not sure with the "big dig" aka big embarresment) able to be moved for rush hour traffic. Who knows, to each his own. - Subvibe

Man, you got that right... I felt the *crunch* when I hit and I was not a happy camper. Then I pulled off and inspected the car, and I was more relieved than you can imagine. It's relatively nice to avoid having to worry about bodywork when you hit something. :D

switched the front passenger side wheel with the rear one since it had 1 curb rub... so both front are clean.. then I brought it in for the following problems
1, Steering (have to drive with it 20 degrees to the left to go straight)
2, Mileage (getting 16 MPG)
3, Engine Knock
4, Studdering between 0-20 MPH
5, Lose Belt shifting from P to R or D..
Won't have it for a few days I imagine :D

you either have the worst luck, or dont know how to drive. i think its just bad luck considering the truck hittin you when you were parked. maybe a bit of both tho.

got it back, 2,3,4,5 are fixed.. 1 is stil screwed (they did an alignment fixed some stuff).. now the steering wheel is 20 degrees the other way resting (when its straight up its straight).... and the click still remains (noticed it 1-2 hours after I left) also the thing that leads to the steering wheel in the car is still off which is very annoying to say the least since i used it to tell when i had the wheel in the center.. bringing it back tomorrow any suggestions on what i should say?

my rim is fine, i brushed the concrete that i took with me right off, no scratches on the rim.
i hate construction zones, las vegay has too many. i can't go to school for christ sake, 2 construction zones are in the way, along with a huge road shift i should get a pic of.
i'll try to get pics monday, off to the bowling ally.
gun get off your *** and get this

brought it to the dealer today, they drove it with me in that car to the mechanic insists the steering rack is fine he says its springs making the clicking noise and says its normal I showed him behind the wheel to where its off alittle and he unscrewed it and put it back on.. It's alittle better but its the same still, the wheel goes back perfectly to the top no sitting so I dont know.. they said ill have the warrenty for awhile so if anything breaks just take it in
