I'm thinking about getting the Evo Fusion Catback, But I am wondering how "farty" the straight through muffler that comes with it sounds. How loud of a sound would i expect out of it? my only N/A mod is a SRI, and I like the sound of that. I just dont want the pissed off Civic sound.
If Anyone who has this hooked up can tell me how loud it is that would be awesome. Thanks!

from what i heard...its a nice sound..but i was on the outside...the person who i installed it for said that it was kinda annoyed with the buzz

i have it on my xd right now. the sound is not at all like those farty high pitched hondas. it's pretty deep (though no where near those domestic v8s) and at WOT makes a nice harmonious deep sound with my cai. i definitely love the sound. there was no real buzz for me when i drive. perhaps because i take this "buzz" to be a part of the exhaust noise but i never really drove and thought 'damn that buzz is annoying' or even realize the buzz. Or maybe i just don't have the buzz?
anyways, overall it's a nice deep tone sound.

I agree with 02xdGLS... it's a nice throaty V6-V8 sound even without the silencer in (the silencer slides in the back of the muffler and is held in with one bolt at the bottom of the tube/cone of the silencer unit). With the silencer, it's not very loud at all under normal throttle conditions, but it throbs nicely when you go to Wide Open Throttle (WOT). I'm very happy with the sound, especially since it doesn't have the "turbocharged lawnmower" sound that most Honda cat backs seem to have. You shouldn't have to worry about being pulled over for noise if you use the silencer.
On mine, without the silencer, it's LOUD. When you really get on it and open it to WOT over 4,000 RPM you can hear your exhaust sound echoing off of nearby flat surfaces (buildings, houses, parked cars, etc). I very rarely run it without the silencer, one, because I'm afraid of getting an "improper muffler" or "noise pollution" ticket and two, because I seem to have more low-end torque and overall more power with the silencer installed.
Of course, I still have both cats and the stock header (and a 2.5 or 2.75" CAI; I can't remember). Oddly enough, when I was running with a 3" CAI, an odd harmonic seemed to occur between the intake noise and the exhaust that made it louder; now with the smaller-tube CAI it's not bad at all.
Either way, you'll definitely feel a very noticable difference in acceleration!
Hope that helps.

I agree two. I was at a dyno with an XD that had the exhaust, and it sounded nice. But I just don't like the look of a round muffler popping out under our bumpers...

I don't like the appearance much, either, but the increase in power is worth it IMO. Also, oddly enough, once I put on my ADR Sokudo 17" rims, the muffler didn't look so out of place. I guess having the more aggressive exhaust with stock wheels on a relatively stock car (except for no badges and window tint) looked goofy until I upgraded something else for obvious performance.
Still, I'd have perferred that it mounted higher into where the stock muffler sat and had a downward bend at the end, but oh well...

Any exhaust will get buzzy when you add a header. That is just the nature of the beast when it comes to a four cylinder. Mine is buzzy as **** but I like all the gains I got, and actually like the sound.

Another member Onelove on these forums has the exhaust while we were out in the middle of the night, it def. has a nice throaty sound to it. I say its well worth the money.

So everyone thinks that the Evo Fusion Cat Back Exhaust is worth the high price? I must agree that the 20 horsepower, and 25lbs. of torque is really awesome. I got a couple months to think if I really want it or not. Since I plan on using most my tax money on the XD2, wheels, Tires, K&N filter, Tibby Sway Bar, and exhaust.

your only going to get 7whp out of it. i beleive it was mahonroy that disproved that when they say 20 hp, there lying, straight up. he dynoed it and proved it.

ummm were you being serious about 20hp /25lbs of torque??
b/c if you read around a bit more, and if you think about it for a second, that just can't be true. a cat-back in mildly-modded to near-stock NA engine would never give 20hp by itself. if you are pushing 18 psi of boost with the stock cat-back and changed it out for a 3inch piping cat-back... maybe some decent gain but even then probably not 20hp.
i got mine used from an old member, so for it the price was well worth it. but you might wanna look around your local muffler shop for custom cat-back and see how much that would run you. i'd've went that route if i didn't buy the ef catback real cheap used.

im happy with my 40 series flowmaster with my resonator removed, its a nice low tone but not anywere as loud as a catback, i had the catback on my 01 gls and after about a year i was sick of it and took it off and went back to stock.
